I can't think of one situation where this would be necessary. The White House should have a cyber security lock down option for all governmental agencies in case of cyber attack but that should not extend into private networks.
Private networks react on their own to cyber security threats if they feel they must. They don't need a politician telling them to pull the plug.
Plus it's just soooooo vague. "Cybersecurity professionals"? How do I get certified for that?

Hack into a secure government site. XD

"Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for "cybersecurity professionals," and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license."
That's right, folks, we need the same people to manage your private internet who managed social security, Cash for Clunkers, and had their hand in AIG.
Isn't Senator Rockefeller the same guy who is in youtube videos saying he thinks the internet should have never been created and it should be shut down or something? No, I'm not going to go look. It's some guy with a "big bank" last name. Too much info leaking out, maybe?
Which reminds me, "Youtube" should be put in the poll in that other thread about "favorite news site." You want to see a news clip that was shown once and then buried? That's where you'll find it.
They're working on Internet2 anyway to "protect you."

Killing anonymity is definitely going to be the highest priority. "Protect you" from what? More like kill the Internet and replace it with a dragnet.
I see Internet2 as replacing reality for the #1 way to apprehend people for pointless causes. Take, for instance, all those cases where celebrities sued someone for calling them a bitch. Bitches earn it, bitch. XD
We are so aiming for cyberpunk fantasies becoming reality.

Is anyone surprised by this?
Still wondering why no one has noticed how Obama is doing/continuing the same shit Bush was doing.
Change, indeed.

Hmm, this is most disturbing. In war, you cutoff the supply and communication lines..... The internet is the biggest source of communication and information. Think about it, if the government turned communist (close already), and there was an uprising, they would need communication to succeed. Kill the internet and wham, you loose an alarming chunk of that..... Without the internet, we are cutoff from the rest of the world.

I'm not surprised. The government has been relentlessly trying to kill our rights for at least the past two decades.
McCain represented change (an honest, good hearted politican) but America is too blind to see that. Even if the people won't tell you, they dispise change.

No offense, dude, but McCain was a dumbass, too.
Do you remember (it happened in one of the last debates) when he said the US government should "just buy up all the troubled mortgages"?
Funny, when Obama says those same words (or something similar), people scream "Socialist!" Why's McCain different?
Also, why'd no one question Sarah Palin? Alaska HEAVILY taxes oil companies, takes that money, and sends checks out to all Alaska residents.
Hmm....yet she gets up there and criticizes other people for doing the same thing she's doing, and shouts "Socialism" just the same.
Please.....They're ALL the same.

Exactly. There are so many conspiracy theories out there, but the one that I agree with is that there are no sides, all part of the same organization and the president is just a figure head.

That's exactly what the FDIC and SEC should have been required to do (in fact, that's what they advertized the bailout bill as doing); instead, they went and bought out AIG. The securities is what caused the crisis so it makes sense to go directly after them.
Funny, when Obama says those same words (or something similar), people scream "Socialist!" Why's McCain different?
Buying up the securities to destroy them doesn't mean owning businesses. Socialism is government ownership of work places. The buyout of AIG, for instance, is a page out of the socialism textbook.

No one questioned her? Were you not alive during the election? Even now she is still being questioned as to why she resigned as governor.
Alaska is unique in that there's so much oil and so few citizens (686,293). The state spreads the wealth around. I don't see what's bad about that. I believe the paycheck is like $2,000 per citizen which only amounts to some $1,372,586,000/ year. That's chump change for oil corporations. Would you rather they spend that $1.3 billion on a bridge to no where?
Hmm....yet she gets up there and criticizes other people for doing the same thing she's doing, and shouts "Socialism" just the same.

Can't help notice you are attacking Palin, not McCain. McCain would have been president, not Palin.

Palin would have been "a heartbeat away" lololol
McCain was a warmonger and a moron anyways. Not saying he's better or worse than Obama, just more of the same.
And the Federal Reserve was the main culprit of this meltdown. It's the source of all of our problems. Visit Mises.org for some reading material. Hopefully you're not one of those people who blame the "unregulated" free market (yeah right).

He wasn't a warmonger, he believe in fighting wars the right way, not the punny way..
anyways, anyone ever heard of the flag@whitehouse email????
The one where you send suspicious emails to Obama at the white house and they investigate the crimes or what the email was about. It was set up after the health care craziness started.
Now that i see this, im starting to think that maybe there is some truth intot he flag email rumor.

McCain hates war; he saw it and felt it first hand. He only declares/fights wars that are necessary.
I've met morons and he isn't one of them.

I'd blame Alan Greenspan, Bill Clinton (deregulated securities back in 1999), the SEC (absolute failure to act), and Barney Franks (voted/argued against bills to re-regulate securties).
