Got it 9/12/2009. Made one mistake that cost me 16 points (only allowed to miss 30 total). Parked ON the line that says "STOP HERE" (You know, the ones before the crosswalks). Apparently in PA you're supposed to stop behind it lol.
Anyway, woot. I use my mom's '90 Chevy Lumina now, and I'm saving up for a car. My other thread is null and void though. Dunno what I'll get, probably a little 4-banger, or a Ford Ranger sized truck.

Oh christ. What part of PA are you in again? If it's western I'm gonna have to keep my eyes open to avoid 90 Lumina's. :p

Up north, by the NY border :p
If you're ever around, look out :D
Congrats man! Enjoy driving by yourself! But don't overdo it. Don't be like my friend who drove his car into a creek. With me on the passenger seat. That being said, learn to drive your vehicle, not just drive. Its more safe, and more fun if you know your ride.

Congrats! Drive safe!
I still remember getting my learners permit at 15. I missed one question on the written test and I missed two 5 point penalties on the main driving test at my school. One for switching my blinker off midway through a lane change and one for not checking the door locks.

Checking your door locks? Are you serious? What the hell does that matter?

Yep, that's what I wondered. Hell it was a 5 point penalty if you didn't inspect your car before you drive. Broken tail lights, tires, wipers, headlights, etc.

Well, that makes more sense than door locks. What if I don't want my doors locked?

Their explanation was that if you get it a wreck, the door can fly open if it's not locked.

That's asinine. It's can fly open locked, too. If a wreck can mangle the latching mechanisms enough to open a door, it's coming open, locked or not.

If you look for a Range keep it simple and go for a 2.3L (I say this as I assume you would be looking older), the 2.9l's and their trannys are flat out garbage.

The 2.9L is a solid little motor. My dad had one that went 400K without a rebuild. The tranny is crap though. It went through two and a torque converter in those 400K.

haha, some of the most asinine rules believe it or not, LOL how about a 50 dollar fine for trucking without your running lights on, LOL, or getting a 250 dollar ticket for having a trailer tail light out.
Self inspection the doors must have working locks, lol
I remember getting my learners permit at 16.5, and towing my first boat at 16.9 LOL, of course dad was in the truck the whole time, first solo tow was at 17.
YEP, from here on out you'll enjoy the open road alot more then a bicycle did me at my age, LOL I was always out and about on a bicycle until i got my license, then it was watch out america here i come!
In either case congratulations

I'm sure if they get treat right, but with him just getting his licence, I expect the worse :D We all been there, I will admit the motor isn't that bad, but I have watched the hard life of my friends poor Ranger. He has beaten the crap out of it, granted only has gone through 1 motor rebuild, but trannys, I think it devours one about every 30k, lol.

That's the amusing part, that ranger was a supply truck for my dad's electric company..... Sucker got the holy hell beat out of it on a daily basis. I know, my first truck was a work truck from that same company. Also, we had an 88 Bronco II that had the 2.9L and the guy that had it drove the piss out of it, I mean really bad, and it ran forever too.
