So what is the buzz on this show. The basic plot ideas for the other shows were getting a little worn, so while I was sad to see them end, I think there could be some great possibilities with the new show. I just hope they don't follow the standard formula of big bad villain and insurmountable odds. Conflict is essential to a good plot, but conflict can take a variety of forms.

I cant wait to see UNIVERSE. I think by the looks of the trailers it is much darker than the previous series in the franchise. I like the premise of finding out more about the ancients before the became all powerful.

Seeing how it's based off a ship far away in space I'm guessing it'll be a bit more like Voyager. ie many new aliens, most likely one or two powerful ones as the "big bad villain".

This might be interesting. I was a fan of Stargate SG-1 from start to finish (although Stargate SG-1 went downhill after Richard Dean Anderson left the show).

I'm mad they ended Atlantis earily, but I'm hopping for the best with SU. I tried to program it on the DVR today, but it came up one day to early to do it....

I saw the first episode today and I am very very very dissapointed, this show is like battlestar galatica + a stargate with some bad actors and a little of lost all combined, I will watch like 2 more episodes and if it dosen't get better than I give up on stargate and I have watched stargate since the 90's, I am just very dissapointed right now.

It was definitely slow and they should either ditch the social commentary or dress it up a little better.
I don't know. I'll watch it regardless, but I'm not impressed with the story so far.
I don't normally mind inconsistencies in the plot but the idea that the ancients could beam matter from place to place but not have something like a Star Trek replicator is kind of pushing it.
I want to see how they explain their inability to get home. They have star charts, nav system, etc.

The series premiere of Stargate Universe was ok, but I hope it doesn't go the way Battlestar Galactica did. [To me] Battlestar Galactica turned into a fucking soap opera in space.

Hallelujah!!!! Thank you. A fuckin' soap opera where the baby momma is a cyborg and the only way one character isn't sleeping with another is . . . well, there are no limits really.
I liked BSG but it was a struggle to watch at times. However the soap opera element is, I believe, what made it so popular and that was a good thing for SciFi in general.

Where do you find the time to do such a thing? I had to wait two days before I even had time (watched it yesterday evening) to watch series, there were plenty from the past days and I have loads of things left to watch.
