Police say a 17-year-old Taiwanese boy has been arrested for chopping off his father's hands, allegedly to avenge years of physical abuse.
Police say the boy cut through his father's wrists with a knife while he was asleep at the family home in central Miaoli.
The 37-year-old father, a divorced ironsmith, is in a stable condition after doctors reattached his severed hands.
Police say the boy admitted to cutting his father's hands off and showed no remorse.
Police say the boy complained that his father had beat him after he refused to get a job while attending school.
The boy has been handed over to a juvenile court that will decide whether to file charges.

The Apple Daily newspaper quoted the boy as telling police that since his mother left home some 10 years ago, his father had frequently beat him and even tossed a chair or other objects at him.

The boy said he bought a knife and planned to kill his father two days earlier after his father reprimanded him for refusing to work and denied him allowances, the report said.

Um... wow. Beating children is bad, but chopping the hands off your parents isn't exactly good manners, too. What I don't get is how the boy was able to cut both hands off without the father interfering. I mean even if you hibernate, you feel when someone tries to amputate your hands.

Better than what happened around here. This guy had been in jail, and his parents had fought to get him out of jail. I worked with this guys dad that was working to get him out all tho I didn't know him that well. Soon after they got him out of jail he proceed to get both of his parents heads off....
