Just Picked up a 1991 VW GTI about 2 weeks ago. as of right now it has H&R coilovers a Brospeed/Techtonics tuning catback,ABD racing shortthrow. its a 16v thats been rebuilt. I have Sport Cams,Retainers, and valve springs on the way for some more topend. its in my shop right now getting repainted a Black cherry pearl. its all original with a mint 16v interior for those of you that know VW's. i have Ecode headlights also on the way with the crosshairs and some other small engine parts. this car is one hell of a fun car to own. i only took one pic of it so far and that was the day i bought it. i just ordered some Sportmax 002s for it in a 15x8 with a 0 offset with almost 4 inch lips in the back..this car was my present to myself after my fiance and I split, it has kept me busy and my mind busy.

I like the older GTI's, just don't go all crazy Euro on it with a rusty hood and putting the beads inside the lips of the rim. Whats the total plans for this? Just a mild build on the original motor? Or you gonna go all out crazy with it?

If it was anything other than an old-school(ish) GTI, I was gonna bust your balls here. lol Can't fault the GTIs tho.
One criticism tho, it's over-lowered.
And a suggestion for relatively cheap, yet fun speed. 1.8T swap. :D

no, i hate the rusted hoods. its getting a Black Cherry Pearl Paintjob. The 16v is already rebuilt on the bottom end. its getting cams a Cis-E power module new lifters valves etc. I have sportmax 15x8 in a Zero offset on order. the cage is being built for it with a nice set of Eurojet racing seats with harnesses. got all new motor mounts, Oil cooler kit, a nice guage pod that replaces where the Cigarette try pulls out so i can monitor Oil temp. it will be done by this coming summer. i have a garage that i store my stuff in for winter so thats where ill be working on it at.

1.8t swaps are good but im keeping the 16v its already quick..it has the bottom end rebuilt and im working on the top right now. it has H&R coilovers so i can adjust the ride height. if i was going to do a swap i would get a Vr6 built it and swap it in.

You actually sacrifice handling by having it that low. It throws off suspension geometry, all the while severely limiting suspension travel. Sacrificing performance to look good is something a rice boy would do, performing the best possible, while still looking damn good is what a true enthusiast does. ;)
