What to use to create/edit pictues, video, gifs, maybe flash

So is Adobe the best? Whats the exact program I would need to use to edit my pictures, create gif's, perhaps create a flash design.

I'm new so should I go with Adobe? Creative Suite 4? Photoshop? Where should I start?

I tend to use paint.net, sure PS has more features, but not everyone needs them all.

i don't use it (uninstalled it yesterday) but GIMP is good (i HEAR, i never used it)
and picase
but that's for photo editing only as far as i know

For pics I use Photoshop/Illustrator, with my fathers license (him owning a small print agency has its advantages).

For videos, I tried Adope Premiere once, but was overwhelmed by its functions... Pinnacles video edition softwares are pretty neat and easy to use.

hm i found one but sadly you only get 20 free activations before you have to purchase
