Well, a site that has thousands of visitors each day features more potential victims than a site with three visitors a day. Although I have experienced relatively uknown sites with few members getting spammed, it just happens a lot more often on known big sites with many members. Spammers are intelligent, you know. And they take advantage of one of the biggest deseases in humankind: Stupidity. Think about it. Tricking an idiot is very easy if done right (or if done at all, if dealt with ungodly amounts of idiocy), so its easy money, or whatever it is they want. People taking advantage of inexperienced/knowledge-lacking people are rich bitches.

Hardly, just means google knows it exists.

But doesn't google eventually learn about every site?
I know of sites far older than GN which aren't spammed as much.

Not at all. I made a website for my business and before I even advertised it, there were spammers on my forum. Internet trash blows everywhere.
