Adobe needs to die, Flash with it.why?

Their installers are crap, their applications are not user friendly, practically every service they provide is closed source and requires you to come running to them for everything in regards to it (e.g. those that use PDF require those that don't to use their software), they are refusing to release installers without download managers, they frequently use autoupdaters on software that should do nothing to require it (like open holes in firewalls or write software that is powerful enough to jeoprodize a browser and its hosting computer), flash10b.ocx at one time was broke on Windows XP with no way to uninstall it nor update (had to erase and install Windows), they have had a virtual monopoly on web-applets for a decade, and they bundle third party software with their software whenever possible. Need I continue?

That works for flash, not much else. Flash doesn't need an installer because it is only one file. Too bad most people don't know that.

Well you could always use REAL right....
I'm sure if a competitor came along with better stuff they will then out do Flash until then there is not much of a choice

I've been wondering for a long time, why the hell is Acrobat reader 90+ MB? Why can't they make a simple <1MB program to read the damn pedophilesPDF-files? What's in that 90MB that is so crucial to every user? Why does it need to update every other week? What do they change?

Microsoft Silverlight. I've tried Silverlight and it isn't ready for primetime yet. It isn't intuitive like the rest of .NET, it just seems like a few idiots got together and glued something together out of last months left over bread or something. It could easily topple Adobe Flash if they make it more developer friendly.

Apparently, HTML5 is supposed to have something like Flash/Silverlight embedded. I'm not convinced that isn't crap either, though.

Real needs to die too. They're just as much of a security threat as Adobe is (needlessly but they insist on invading your computer).

My guess? Acrobat Reader 9 is effectively a GUI with Acrobat Reader version 1-8 code behind it. Instead of improving upon the parts that need improving and changing the file extension to reflect those changes, they recycle nothing, dub it a completely different file without labeling it as such.

Put as briefly as possible: they were reckless.

As to the updates, I have no freakin' clue. Most programs that deal with a single file format and not the internet need only one release per version of the file. Because PDF doesn't deal with really finite structures, there's no reason for multiple versions either. Again, I have no freakin' clue other than that they are reckless.

So we can conclude that they're idioth's?

An idiot is someone you tell not to touch an electrical fence and they do it anyway. If Adobe heard the message that their software is crap and aren't taking it seriously then yeah, that qualifies them as "idioth's." XD

You're confused, that's a goat (http://www.dumpert.nl/mediabase/21071/5ab5b3cc/geit_likt_schrikdraad.html).

Silverlight is good.

flash hardware acceleration is broken in Windows 7/IE for many right now. And teh fix is supposed to be 10.1, in january 2010. Good job Adobe.

Acrobat is complete shit, and yes it is huge, and installs lots of shit to try and take over your systems the same way real player did untill everybody dumped it for other things. I coudn't count the number of times I have had to forceably end the main adobe executable as it locked up the PC with multiple instances running.

How do you CTRL-ALT-DEL your TV when it locks up? Or your phone? Will your TV need weekly 15MB updates too?

If they could sell the idea, I'm sure they'd find an excuse to as well. Businesses have no respect for privacy anymore.

Silverlight does work but you got to do some ass-backwards stuff to get there (e.g. it is very hard to find a file in the same directory as the Silverlight app). That's what they need to fix before it will get much traction.
