Here's the short version of my story...

I used to have National City, but PNC went and gobbled them up. The change just recently hit home and I'm still in the assimilation process. The last thing I have to do is change my account number on Paypal, but the problem is, I can't see my full account number anywhere I go on the PNC banking page: all I get is the last 4 digits. So, I tried calling them through the contact number on thier website, but the voice is so low that I can't hear it when my phone volume is all the way up and the recieving end of the phone is pressed hard against my ear!

Is there any other way short of ordering a new checkbook that I can see what my own full account number is?

Go to the bank and ask them, they'll give it to you.

Hm, last time I went to the bank I didn't have sufficient proof of who I was. I don't have a driver's liscense; all I have is my social security card. That didn't work for them.

Shouldn't your parents be able to vouch for you?

And routing number.

This is happening to a lot of banks around the USA. At least 124 have failed in 2009, five times more than 2008. I know my parents' bank changed name and a few months later, they got bought out by a bigger bank. Its a PITA but at least the FDIC guarentees your money isn't lost in the process.

You probably have an account filed jointly with your parents (as collateral). They may have to provide the proof you can't.

On that note, I go through PNC, they're nothing short of wonderful. Much better than Chase.

Yeah, it's most banks' policy that if you don't have your account no. that you'll need to provide a SSN and a state/federal picture id. You should have needed the ID to open the account in the first place, so like everyone is saying your mom and or dad's name should also be on the account, so you'll need them to help you.
