My father was checked into the hospital with 'stroke' like signs, drooping of the side of the face, slerd speech and so on. Upon further tests he was found to have a "tumor" in the right front lobe of the brain. The tumor was causing the signs of possible stroke that we were seeing. Over the past 2 1/2 years this man has lost his left lung and prostate to 2 different cancers, now facing possibly having brain cancer of some sort. He just turned 56. The good news... It is operable as it is now. The bad news... the rest of his body must be clean of any other signs of tumors. We wont know until tomorow when the scan prints can be looked at.

I've met and made alot of new friends here on TPU. Please, if you can spare just a few seconds to say a quick prayer for Don. If you dont believe in prayer, please just a positive thought for him. We are all believing that the rest of his body is clean so they can go in and get this thing out.

Thank you all so much,
-Donavon

You bet. Sorry for the trials your family faces. Seems like the shit stick is being passed around a lot these days. I wish things weren't turning out this way.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your father.

The father of one of my friends had an identical condition - a brain tumour which was causing him to be very confused. He was operated on and now he's completely cured.
I pray that such will be the case of your dad as well.

Thank you all for your support and prayers. We just got word that the scans came back clean other than the tumor they originaly found. They are in the process of tranfering him to OHSU Portland, OR for brain surgery. Your continued prayers and positive thoughts are very much needed. We dont have the time or how soon the procedure will take place, will keep updates coming.

Thank you so very much,
-Donavon

We are now at OHSU. Got the final MRI scan tonight. Pretty cool procedure they are going to do. The high resolution scans are fed into a 'navigation' computer, it acts like GPS for the computer. The system shows the doctors the proper entry area, then navigates them into the brain where the tumor is located. The doctor was showing me the navigation system when all of a sudden........ BOSD!!. Yes, the system runs in windows of all things. Cant even escape M$ in the freaking hospital. They have back up fail safes of coarse. I think it was running on Win7 x64 if I heard him right. They've only had it a few months now. I guess there is a few buggies to still work out. Surgery is in the morning. Will update tomorrow evening hopefully.

Thanks for all your support,

Just talked to the surgeon, all went well. The tumor is out and he is moving his arms and legs. They think it was a tumor left over from the lung cancer and is not actually 'brain cancer'. we are waiting for one more CT scan to make sure no bleeding is taking place. Other than that it looks good. Will post more as we find out more.

He was moved to a private room this afternoon. He is doing well above what the doctors projected. He could be home as soon as tomorrow, possibly. We are getting slammed by a winter storm right now, not sure if I can make it back right now.
Thanks for everyones support, my family very much appriciates it. Happy New year to everyone. It will be a good year for us.... we still have our dad here!

God Bless all,
-Donavon
