I'm looking to get a few new movies and I'm wondering what kind of movie is a straight-up action packed kickass movie there is. Nothing boring or retarded something that wants you to keep watching.

I've seen most of them but I'm looking into more of a realistic setting.

P.S: Long time no see!

Ah, then try Equilibrium. Damn good sleeper hit, and completely plausible/believable.

If you're into martial arts, try Ong Bak and Revenge of the warrior with Tony Jaa (Ong Bak 2 is crap).
And Chocolate. Its basically Ong Bak but with a girl. A female Tony Jaa if you will. And she kicks ass dude!

Ong Bak especially is fun to watch, and you find yourself watching the fighting scenes over and over because they are so awesome. And NO special effects.

Thank you for the suggestions. I am going to view several of the movies you have suggested. Also, isn't Band of Brothers a television series?

Maybe all aren't for everyone, but I'll toss a few out that come to mind.

Taken
Rambo 4
Crank 1 and 2
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Nightwatch (from the director of Wanted)
Daywatch (ditto)
Dragon Wars/D-Wars
TimeCop
Hard Target
Steven Seagal's first seven or so movies
Who Am I (Jackie Chan) U.S. version is edited. Look for Hong Kong version.

and, of course, Shooter, starring Marky Mark.

Oh, and who could forget super-kickass action movie The One (Jet Li).

It's not straight-up, action-packed, but if you haven't seen HBO's Generation: Kill miniseries, it's good stuff.

Oh yeah, Crank is very entertaining, basically action nonstop due to the plot lol.

+1 on Taken. Absolutely amazing movie. Probably the first movie i've ever seen and not found something wrong with it (i'm a movie fanatic, but a somewhat tough critic)
Boondock Saints
Jarhead
Full Metal Jacket
Lord of the Rings (get the extended versions they're better)
+1 Equillibrium, awesome re-imagining of the book 1984
+1 Star Trek (i hate the show and I loved the movie, so don't let it discourage you if you're not a "trekkie"
+1 District 9.
The One was just awesome too. Good if you just want a pure action movie in the classic style.
