I've decided for the first time in my life to grow a beard. I've never done it before and I'm 33 years old. My new years resolution is to become more of a mountain man. More John Wayne and less Nathan Lane if you know what I mean. Heading out to the Smoky Mountains in two months time. I have two pistols, a shotgun, and a 32 cal. rifle.
Anyways, I'm rambling. I will post pics of the beard, before/after but first it must grow. Anybody got any tips for growing a beard out faster? Or, just share some of your beard stories with us! :D

Don't forget to trim it as it comes in. Some parts will grow faster than other parts.

And finally... JC at 23. Note the slight shadow of a mustache. And that is how it's done. Only took 8 years without a razor touching my face to grow 1/8 inch of mustache.

Cut your hair, get some aviator sunglasses, grow that mustache and play a cop on TV. Homocide detective would fit you well!
I would look too much like that short short wearing cop on Reno 911 if I grew just a mustache!

Lol, yeah. I have some weird genetic thing where I don't grow facial hair. Going to be 24 in march and I have never had to shave, most people tell me that I am blessed. Only thing that sucks is that I got carded to buy an M rated game the other day.

shave the mustache and a patch on your chin and have wolverine chops! I had them for a while but had to shave and cut my hair for a job interview. Waiting for my hair to grow back out so i can do it again.
And JC Be glad you dont have to shave all the time. I had a full beard the summer after sixth grade (im a genetic freak of nature too...) And if I dont shave every day I'll have a full beard within three days. Really a hassle. Tho the carding gets annoying when you shave. When I had my chops i'd never even get carded for alcohol, then the day after I shaved, I got carded for cigarettes.

I havn't shaved in 2 weeks it's a baby beard in progress, but the trick is to lightly trim it every week. Trimming it will help it keep a cleaner look, but a full mountain man beard wont matter after 2-3 inches.
Longest I kept a goatee was 1 year and it was 3 inches, I couldn't stand it anymore and shaved it off.
I was aiming for a beard like Kratos'
http://jeuxpc.20minutes-blogs.fr/images/kratos.jpg
But then I had to shave because it didn't look that good yet, and I had to look good for the night :( But it is in progress again.
Fully shaved I look like a 15 year old, but with stubbles I look fantastic lol. Have to shave for that date I have coming up tho, I can imagine women don't like to kiss pointy surfaces.

I'm working on Kratos' physiqe, too, but thats harder to accomplish than the beard... Mainly because I'm more of a Tony Jaa kind of guy, I have muscles but I still look skinny lol. Noone believes me when I say I weigh 65kg at 172cm, thats how skinny I look. The beard would look badass tho nontheless.

Hmm, beard growing. I have a love/hate with beards. I've worn a gotee pretty much since I was in college. It feels really strange once every 6 months when I decide to shave it off.
Living in the rural south, full beards are like a winter tradition. So much so, that employers don't even bother telling you to shave, even in a professional environment. So, every year since I've been down here, I'll swear I'm going to grow out a full beard for the winter. I'll get a good start, but I tell you after 4-5 days growth, it gets so damn itchy that I just can't take it anymore. Not to mention my wife starts to complain about it. LOL
The Smokies you say? They are in my back yard, almost lterally. If you come this way, I'll have to buy you a brew.

I've had a goatee and chops for years. At least 10 years that I can remember. Never tried a fulle beard tho. I can't stand having a mustache, and a full beard without a mustache just lok silly, unless you're Amish. lol.
Not to mention, I can only handle about 2 weeks of beard growth before the itching drives me insane. lol.

I grew a beard my Senior year of HS, I just went Grizzly Adams style and stopped shaving for about two months.
My girlfriend hated it and threatened to leave me if I didn't shave. She didn't hold true to the threat, but I eventually ended up shaving it because I went on vacation to Orlando and I didn't want to be all grizzly in the heat.

I was rockin' a Lemmy/Triple H beard for awhile. Sort of a full beard minus the chin area for those who don't want to google a picture.
Hmm, now I'm considering bringing that back for a February debut.
For those new to facial hair, here's a good rule-of-thumb to not look like a homeless bear. Whatever you do to the face, just make sure to shave your neck.

Hell, I still haven't grown a beard or mustache and I am almost 24. Something with my genetics, I just don't possess the gene that makes facial hair grow. Aside from full blood American Indians, I only know of a handful of people that don't shave.

yea i thought so, it looks more like cigar smoke. I saw them when they first came out tho, and it seemed like there was barely any smoke... and i know its a terrible reason, but theres just something about smoke (and smoke rings) that would totally diminish the pleasure of smoking, if you get what i mean. Like getting your nicotine without the smoke just wouldnt be any fun.
Im really thinking about getting one for myself. I smoke less than a pack a day, and i cant seem to figure out whether they are a good deal or not. Would one spend more money on the cartridges, or on regular cigarettes? (over like, say a month?) And the hassle of having to order them over the internet? Do you often find yourself running out before getting new ones?
DaMulta
01-12-2010, 02:13 AM
I don't fuss with carts. I just drip liquid into the atomizer unless I'm using the KR808-d(which you can refill about 10 times or more). I have never found myself running out waiting on more. I can vape around 1 USD to .50 USD per day. So it is cheaper than smoking. An atomizer can last a week to months it just depends.
If you hold it in you will not blow anything out.
It kind of becomes a hobbie lol just because of different flavors to try, and different ones too use.
The BB feels like a nice cigar. It's a cloud machine with the 801 on it(using USB power ATM)

It does sound like fun, getting the different flavors and such. Its just the liquid seems expensive, so its kind of confusing as to whether it would be more expensive than regular ciggs because i didnt know how long they last.

Yea it works out cheaper if you want to drink fingernail polish remover... but a litre of good vodka costs as much as a 30 pack around here. Plus if you want something that tastes nice such as smirnoff coolers and whatnot, its far more expensive for a six pack of those than it is for a six pack of beer. Which is why I say I wish i liked the taste of beer. I suppose I could also say I wish I liked the taste of cheap vodka or cheap anything for that matter.

Ugh Vodka, I've only had Vodka twice in my life (excluding the alcopops I used to drink when I was younger) the first time I had it was in September last year. 4 cans of cider, 6 bottles of beer, a glass of rum and a half litre of straight vodka. My night ended with me passed out in a field in front of the house face down in a drain, I broke a bed too lol
Just thinking about straight Vodka makes me sick, I hate it so much. WTF do people drink it straight for? It doesn't even taste nice. Not only that, it's expensive. It's like €18 for a 700ml bottle, and if you're in a club it's even more expensive. €4 a shot: 700ml/25ml = 28 shots x €4 = €112 - €18 = €94 profit on 1 bottle of vodka which is enough to buy 5 bottles at no cost to them with some change left over.
Kopparberg FTW. Can't beat it, a little expensive but worth it :D

Kopparberg FTW. Can't beat it, a little expensive but worth it :D
Work it out per unit of Alcohol not by just how much liquid you get.
Its like comparing a proc @ 1.8 to one @ 4.2 to put it in geeky terms :p
Oh by the way, the reason you would hate vodka is because you drank half a litre of it, that's like drinking 9 or 10 pints of beer ontop of what you already had :D
I once drank half a litre of tequila in one go ( as in, I tried to down the bottle) Whilst I managed that fine and dandy, I pretty much threw up instantly because my body knew right away it was a bad idea :D
( Done it as one of my exs friends said " bet you can't drink one mouthful straight" ) I redefined mouthful that night! I don't think it impressed my ex or her friends though, first time I met them and the night was rather formal

Just like every other beverage in existence, the brand of Vodka makes a HUUUUUGGGGEEEE difference. Try some Kettle One or Luksosawa, and they go down smooth. Cheap vodka tastes like rubbing alcohol or turpentine, good vodka does not.
I've just had Smirnoff, seems to be the most popular choice here. I don't know why people drink it straight though, it tastes horrible and goes down rough, not what I'd drink on a fun night out, or at any drinking occasion for that matter lol. Was room temperature too, apparantly that's a bad thing for straight vodka?
The only high % drink I want is a shot of Jagermeister in a glass of Red Bull lol

Smirnoff is shit. It's one step above rubbing alcohol, but not far enough above to make it taste good straight. lol.

I have a very sparse beared, ontop of that most of it is ginger ( THANK YOU CELTIC BLOOD! THANK YOU SO MUCH!) which exacerbates how sparse it looks.
My beard turns gingerish after a week or so as well. I once accused my mom of cheating on my father back then but she denies that. The rest of my hair is brown. I really can't be bothered by it, shaving is boring so I settle for looking like a fool half the time :)

I had the feeling a full beard doesn't really suit me me, I just wanted to see what it looks like and always wanted to go a whole summer without shaving lol. I'm gonna get my haircut today so I'm going to sort out my beard line, then before I go looking for jobs at the end of August I'm gonna trim it short to stubble and see what it's like then and maybe go back to the goatee.
Looks like your shirt says it all. :p

Yeah, not much of a beard, though it is quite bushy around the jawline, it's pretty uneven though, guess I won't have enough time to grow a proper one lol

Decided to shave it off, thought I'd do it now rather than later, just left the goatee. I used a hair clippers so it's not a close shave, but I like the stubble so I'm probably gonna leave it and just trim it every now and then. Excuse the hair, I just got out of the shower and keep putting off getting a haircut.

I usually just trim with the little trimmer on the back of my electric shaver unless I'm trying to get a job. Then I actually shave. Anyways, you look better now, but I've never really liked mustaches, always thought they look weird. Super awesome crazy mustaches excluded.

Yeah, I might get rid of the tash seeing as how I can't grow hair to connect them lol. I have a trimmer on the back of my razor but it's shitty and the battery dies too often. If I get any job interviews I'll shave the stubble though.

Norelco shavers are my favorite. Always work right and last about an hour on a full charge, and they work plugged in if you forget to charge it or something and the battery dies. The one I have is extremely easy to maintain also. It's built so it can handle water getting inside without fucking anything up (unless you turn it on or plug it in while there's a lot in it), and the top flips up so you can just put it under the faucet and then leave it out to dry. Of course, it's good to disassemble the head and wash the blades with a mild soap every month or two (never ever dry with a towel or anything, it can fuck the blades up); if maintained, the blades will last for fucking ever. They recommend replacing after a year, but I never replace mine lol. Then again, I don't shave often either.

I've always wanted a proper electric razor, I'm thinking something from the Braun Series 3 as it gets a really close shave which is what I want. Simple, quick and no mess shaving. It's around €130-180 depending on the model, so I might get one for Christmas or something.

I guess if you just let it grow for a while then trim it to even it out it should be fine. When I wanted to grow a full beard it was really patchy and it would have taken me longer than 3 months to get a decent and even beard.
Once you have a goatee you just need to find a good length, assuming you'll be trimming it? I can't remember what I used, I think it was like 3/4" or something.

In the US, "mo" is short for homo (popularized by the tv sitcom Will & Grace. So I'm guessing this isn't a US site, or if it is, then it's a gay US site.
edit: ok, is clearly a us site - http://us.movember.com/ - since it's for charity, maybe they aren't aware of the reference. {shrug}
