Ok a button under the trigger releases the clip with a spring. Total sweet
unloaded and held open by that little button in the middle
http://img.techpowerup.org/090228/gun2.jpg
Two ways to load, with it ready like this(This loads it when you push the button)or with it not held open leaving the shell out of the barrel.
http://img.techpowerup.org/090228/gun3.jpg
Push this and the gun is now loaded and ready to fire at anytime with the clip in
http://img.techpowerup.org/090228/gun4.jpg
You can pull down on the clip which makes for EASY LOADING.

this gun is really made by Smith and Western.

I thought i should post my two main toys
My .308 and my .223
15
The .308 (top) is new and has less then 100 rounds through it, and its a tikka T3 super varmint 24" stainless steel with heavy barrel and adjustable stock, nikkostirling scope (4>16 X50) and harris bipod
The .223 (bottom is a savage 16fss 22" stainless steel with a bushnel 4>12 yadrage pro laser range finder scope (and i use the same harris bipod on this too)
both are top shooters with hand loads and is i do my part on steel the .308 is a one hole shooter :) and yesterday gave me great results at 460 yards and has done average plinking out to 900 yards (the shooter could be better)
P.S. Here in Australia the gun laws are very strict so all we can really have is bolt actions and even they can be hard to get
I have a Marlin .357 Magnum rifle with a 4x scope (need scope mounts yet)
and a .45 long colt/.410 shell Derringer

Had a stainless Ruger P90, good shooting and acurate pistol. Always been a fan of Ruger, quality weapons for a very good price. Here of late there quality of manufacturing has started going down but hey, eveyones got a tighter "bottom line" nowadays. Love my mini-14. If you have a chance to get your hands on one, DO IT!! Give it time, they will be gone just like the AR and AK are going to be soon.

He was in the Marines in the late 60's back when they made "real" men as he said it.
the only thing i have to worry about was a screw up on the form in terms of addresses, but my dad says that shouldn't be a issue.
I can't wait to get it and clean her and all that fun stuff, he isn't expecting this. Since these guns are almost identical i'll see if he (can show me how to break it down) wants to hang out at the range one day when he is down here on vaca in a few weeks.
I can't wait to get my Garand either. I want to get into competitive shooting, big bore shooting that is.
Shame we cn't have Carbines in Jersey. Otherwise i would get a few.

Hahaha.... "real men", that brings back memories. We aren't any less men in the Corps today, its just a different time in the world. We rely less on "brute force" and more on "technical advances". Oh believe me..... they still make "real men" in the Corps, just a different sort.
Living in Jersey really sucks if your a collector or a sportsman. You live in one of the most "overlegislated" areas in the USofA. I feel for you brother, I really do.

He has alot of stories from the old days, and quotes Full Metal Jacket alot for comparisons, lol.
He talks about ho he told one of the drill instructions in the back of the buss to get out of his seat, and didn't know he was a DI till they got there. He bad mouthed them all the way there talking about how "hard core" he was. Needless to say when he got there he was promptly made the Mad Dog, lol.
But he will say the best things that ever happened to him was he went in.
Yea, i might go to the CMP south store and stop by his house in GA and drop off a carbine or two before coming home, LOL.

Awesome. The Garand is one of the funnest guns to shoot. It's heavy, but is well balanced and seems to sit right on the target. Who doesn't love a peep sight? How much were the field grades, and how bad of shape were they in?

Here's something a bit different. Couldn't help myself since it's so old-school. Mosin-Nagant, in service since 1891. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosin–Nagant
Uses 7.62x54mmR cartridges. I didn't even know until unboxing it that it also came with WWI-style ammo packs, strap, and a freakin' bayonet. Neato.
Here's a fun page comparing it to an AR15 and an AK47. Must-read if you like guns! http://www.mouseguns.com/compare.htm
Sample Mosin-Nagant "facts" include:
It was last cleaned in Berlin in 1945.
You can hit the farm from two counties over.
Your sight adjustment goes to 12 miles and you've actually tried it.
Recoil often used to relocate shoulders thrown out by the previous shot.
You can knock down everyone else's target just from the shock wave of your bullet going downrange.
Mosin Nagant: Now with more fireballs!

Love the comparison page for the 3 types. There are some very true facts in there. The AR cant hold a candle to the AK's reliability. You can take an AK throw it in the river, drop it into a sand box, pull it out and take a shit on it and she will still throw rounds down range. You take an AR out of the rack, lube it up with $10 a bottle CLP set it back in the rack, give it a few days to collect some dust and the POS wont function without another cleaning. On the other hand the AK is miles behind the AR in accuracy. The AR's are much better for reliability now that the new generation "gas piston" models have gone mainstream.
I remember when I was in the Middle East in the early 90's I had to use my tube of carmex for lube on my M16 because my squad was out of CLP on a patrol in the middle of fuking nowhere. It worked but not for very long. Carmex is nasty to have to remove from a weapon that was overheated due to 200+ rounds I fired in a fire fight that we ran into the night before we got back to the rear.
Even with all the set backs and pittly little problems the AR has, I will choose it first everytime.
Heres a pic of my newly upgraded/modified Bushmaster M4. Upgraded to a gas piston system and titanium match bolt, also new optics (not pictured EOTech 512).
http://img.techpowerup.org/091130/bushmasterARgas1.jpg
I've inherited these from my late Father. I'm not old enough to legally own them, so my Uncle keeps them is his posession for me.
Cobra 4-10/.45 Derringer

Marlin 1894CS .357 Magnum/.38 Special
http://www.joecaggiano.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/marlin1894cs.357lever.jpg
Those aren't pictures of my firearms, just some stuff I found on Google Images. They are the same thing though. My 1894CS has a 4x scope on it as well—that I got from my late Grandfather (I bought the mount and rings though).
In the future I do hope to own another handgun—one I can actually use for defending myself. The Derringer's nice if I'm at the range cause it goes bang when I pull the trigger but it's not really much good for anything else. One shot and you're done—and it's not going to have any kind of accuracy. I'm thinking of geting either a .38 or a .357 so that I can buy the same ammo for the handgun as I do for my rifle.
I've fired a Mosin Nagant once. I was out at the range with my Uncle and the guy two tables down from us was firing it and I felt (and saw) the shockwave coming from it. I was deadly accurate with it too. I wouldn't mind having one, but I don't want to have too many firearms, espically since they would be using different ammo types.

Things that I found helpful by living this long.
The purpose of fighting is to win.
The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either.... The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.
1. Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.
2. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.
3. I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.
4. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.
5. A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him 'Why do you carry a 45?' The Ranger responded, 'Because they don't make a 46.'
6. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?' 'No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my shotgun.'
7. Beware the man who only carries one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!
But wait, there's more!
I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. I said I did. She said 'Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!' To which I said, of course it is loaded, it can't work without bullets!' She then asked, 'Are you that afraid of someone evil coming into your house?' My reply was, “No not at all. I am not afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, and they are all loaded too”.

I am no old enough to own a gun but I will be soon getting a Smith & Wesson 9mm. My dad has a Winchester .22 rifle that I use sometimes. When I go hunting and recreation shooting, our friends bring their guns to share. I have used their Remington M700, Remington 12 gauge, 20 gauge, .38 snub-nose, .357 Magnum, an older 9mm Ruger, a Beretta M92, a .22 rifle, and a quite nice .30-30 rifle.

This is the Kel Tec I would buy. It folds in half so it would be convenient to carry in a backpack on a camping trip and takes standard Glock mags, including the 32 round G18 mags.
Matter of fact, I need to go to the gun shop to see if they can get one in for me.

Ok, sounds like Kel Tec itself is fine. We're both going to take gun classes soon, but the wife wants to go all the way and get her concealed carry permit, hence the P-3AT.
However, I like SUB-2000 as well. She's thinking maybe one of their 9's, to keep it simple.
Well, until we go Burt Gummer mode.

One of the best times I've had was when I was shooting in competition with the SASS. Anyone that has a natural apprehension around guns and armed individuals should come check out a local competitive shoot. You'll see strict adherence to protocol (or a DQ) and a real camaraderie and respect and genuine politeness. Armed people en masse are very civil. People that act rude often do because they are or feel disempowered and are lashing out at their immediate social environment. People with guns don't have that weak feeling. They feel on par with one another. Much the way trained Martial Artists are usually very gentle and civil and polite and do not take offense easily. It's people that have no training, no protocol, no civility that give any vocation, sport or hobby a bad name. Trained gun owners are well aware of the responsibility and potential for catastrophe. Untrained gun owners think they are in a TV show or something. Yeeha I have a gun let's wave it around and point it at anything we want.
I rarely shoot with anyone except shooters I know have at least the same level of training and restraint I do. The few times I've ended up shooting with friends or coworkers I found myself being a Range Master and laying down the rules, which never goes over well with some yeeha type person.
In case you are not familiar with the commandments that keep us safe around firearms here you go:
NRA Safety Rules (http://www.nrahq.org/education/guide.asp)
1. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
2. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
3. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
When using or storing a gun, always follow these NRA rules:
* Know your target and what is beyond.
Be absolutely sure you have identified your target beyond any doubt. Equally important, be aware of the area beyond your target. This means observing your prospective area of fire before you shoot. Never fire in a direction in which there are people or any other potential for mishap. Think first. Shoot second.
* Know how to use the gun safely.
Before handling a gun, learn how it operates. Know its basic parts, how to safely open and close the action and remove any ammunition from the gun or magazine. Remember, a gun's mechanical safety device is never foolproof. Nothing can ever replace safe gun handling.
* Be sure the gun is safe to operate.
Just like other tools, guns need regular maintenance to remain operable. Regular cleaning and proper storage are a part of the gun's general upkeep. If there is any question concerning a gun's ability to function, a knowledgeable gunsmith should look at it.
* Use only the correct ammunition for your gun.
Only BBs, pellets, cartridges or shells designed for a particular gun can be fired safely in that gun. Most guns have the ammunition type stamped on the barrel. Ammunition can be identified by information printed on the box and sometimes stamped on the cartridge. Do not shoot the gun unless you know you have the proper ammunition.
* Wear eye and ear protection as appropriate.
Guns are loud and the noise can cause hearing damage. They can also emit debris and hot gas that could cause eye injury. For these reasons, shooting glasses and hearing protectors should be worn by shooters and spectators.
* Never use alcohol or over-the-counter, prescription or other drugs before or while shooting.
Alcohol, as well as any other substance likely to impair normal mental or physical bodily functions, must not be used before or while handling or shooting guns.
* Store guns so they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.
Many factors must be considered when deciding where and how to store guns. A person's particular situation will be a major part of the consideration. Dozens of gun storage devices, as well as locking devices that attach directly to the gun, are available. However, mechanical locking devices, like the mechanical safeties built into guns, can fail and should not be used as a substitute for safe gun handling and the observance of all gun safety rules.
* Be aware that certain types of guns and many shooting activities require additional safety precautions.
* Cleaning
Regular cleaning is important in order for your gun to operate correctly and safely. Taking proper care of it will also maintain its value and extend its life. Your gun should be cleaned every time that it is used.
A gun brought out of prolonged storage should also be cleaned before shooting. Accumulated moisture and dirt, or solidified grease and oil, can prevent the gun from operating properly.
Before cleaning your gun, make absolutely sure that it is unloaded. The gun's action should be open during the cleaning process. Also, be sure that no ammunition is present in the cleaning area
Any time I am shooting with someone else I observe how they handle themselves. If they start deviating from the commandments I know I won't be shooting with them again unless they are willing to accept my instruction on the safety and handling of the firearm.

Yeah, lefties... never served in the army but want to take the rifle you literally lived with away from you.
Their reason is to minimize suicides lol. Anyone who wants to comitt suicide will do so regardless the tools necessary for the task.
Plus they say children could play with it. Yes they can. But if you take the firing mechanism out of the rifle, and store it seperately, well its no more harmful than a toy rifle really. Also you'd need to have ammo, which we don't have at home anymore.
Anyway, surveys show that the majority of Switzerland does not want that, so we'll see. I make sure to open a thread once votes have been given.
PS: Buying a gun is still pretty easy here.

Prices are starting to come down pretty fast on AR style. Give it till around this summer, you'll be able to pick one up at a pretty good price. I sold my 2 while prices were high. Will set up another one sometime this year. Sell when high... buy when prices are low. Just smart investing. ;)
