Anyone here DJ? What's your setup?
I'm getting my equipment in a couple of weeks, nothing major just a computer controller as I'm only starting out, not a cheap hobby I can tell you that.
I'm getting the Hercules DJ Console RMX, it plugs into your computer and is used to control software like VirtualDJ. I was going to get the Numark Omni Control which is the same price but it only has 4 RCA outputs whereas the Hercules RMX has 4 RCA outputs, 4 1/4" outputs and 4 RCA inputs for vinyls or CD players and it also has kill switches.
Headphone wise I'm getting the Sony MDR-700DJ and for active nearfield monitors I'm getting the Alesis iM1 Active 520 USB, they feature a 5" 50w woofer and 1" 24w tweeter, a total of 148w RMS. It also has an iPod dock for house parties :)

Djing is an expensive hobby…and unfortunately it never gets any less expensive. I’ve always been a vinyl purist never wanting to go the digital route…however that kind of attitude doesn’t go over well if you’re actually trying to land jobs. I’ve had my djing fun for house parties and a few clubs…I’m more focused on production now. I’ve actually just got my hands on Rane Serato SL3…so I could use the video scratch plug in with any future live sets I may do. Most of that will be pre recorded though.
I’ve got 2 Technics 1200 MK2s, Rane 57TTM, Vestax 06 Pro (slim battle style mixer since I started and still consider myself a turntabilist), Sure m477s, Maschine (moved on from MPCs to the computer so this is my MPC now), Ableton Live 8, Novation 49 SL Mk II, Serato with SL3, MOTU UltraLite-mk3 Hybrid (soundcard), and the MOTU Micro lite MIDI controller.
I have lots of tools for live performance and my links will eventually get filled in…I basically decided to ditch my youth dj name and switch it up…no longer wanted to be associated and single minded.
Going to produce Downtempo, Hip Hop Beats, Jazzy breaks, and if I feel like it Funky House.

Man that post is old, I completely changed my mind on the equipment I want, I also still haven't gotten around to getting anything except headphones, the Pioneer HDJ-2000s, love them :)
I want to get the Numark OMNI Control and Yamaha HS80M monitors, despite being an amateur I want to get really expensive high end monitors, sort of as a futureproof, there's no point in getting cheap ones only to upgrade them later, same as with my headphones. Hopefully later in the year I hope to have a setup with the Pioneer CDJ-400/DJM-400, Yamaha HS10W sub, Serato SL1, a workstation desk and monitor stands.
I may get the Pioneer EFX-1000 too, but I'll see how it goes with getting the first lot of stuff :)
Have you got anything I can listen to?
