Figured we could use a thread to show off our cameras, photos, and photography stories.
I use a Digital Rebel XTi. So far, I only have the kit lens.
No pics for me to post as of yet, as I need to dig them up out of the archives first. I'll edit this post to add some later.

I use a D70 that I got as a hand-me-down graduation present from my dad. I've got the kit lens for it as well as a 70-300. I'd like to get a macro lens eventually, as I like shooting macro and HDR mostly. Still working on doing really well with HDR. Here's a good portion of the pics I've taken (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=45751&id=745025574&l=6bb437e4f1). The winter/snow pics are from when I had just started.

I'm planning on getting the Canon Mark5 DII soon.
Do the pics HAVE to be taken with a DSLR? All I have is a cheap, second-rate HP camera that cost $30 when my dad bought it from my uncle.

Hey ppl I got on here ! anyway I have been shooting with my trusty D100 for years And this year I got a D80 which is decent and does all I requier and than some plus all my old nikon lens still fit, it's not near as heavy duty or heavy but I am a wedding/portrait photographer so dont need anything more.
I shoot mainly in auto focus with manule speed/apture useing a sunpac 622 pro flash. Both bodys have the battery packs and 2 batterys back in flim days we worried about going over 120 pictures now with an 8 gig card in jpeg mode 300 you still have 999 left to go sdhc the D100 is cf only so only 500 or so. Still have some nice old 35mm and medium format stuff and still use it.

Anything better for around the $1500 mark for a full setup, tele-pana, filters, high MP....
I don't care for the video part so muc, it is nice to have, but I also own a HG20 high def camcorder, and the lenses from this woudl fit as a added bonus.

I have the Canon Rebel 300D. I jumped on the digital bandwagon early, so it is one of the first generations of the digital Rebel (remember the stupid Aggisi adds), I think is only 6.8 Mp, but that has never bothered me, the standard image size is 17" x 11.3". I have 3 lenses and a Sigma 10mm x 20mm wide angle is next on my list.
Took this one a month ago, it is a little out of focus, but no tripod w/ my 300mm in low light, so it's not to bad.

MM, that photoshopped pic is outstanding. Maybe you could do something like that with a pic of my son? Unless it took hours and hours, was wondering if it was some simple filtering. I don't have my camera in this country, left it in my apartment in Spain when I last went there. The full kit I (don't) have (at the moment) is:
- Nikon D80
- Nikkor AF-S 16-85mm f/3-5-5.6G ED VR DX
- Nikkor AF-S 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED VR
- Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM
- Kenko DG Nikon AF Extension Tubes Set (36mm, 20mm, 12mm)
- Nikon SB-60 Flashgun
- 30cm flexible flashgun hotshoe extender
- Manfrotto 785B, Velbon CX540 Tripods
- Bunch of other stuff like filters, infrared remote...
Needless to say I'm missing these quite a lot. Used to work in a camera shop so got all these at almost trade value.
All I have at the moment is a crappy 3.2MP camera phone wihtout flash. And all my best pics are on the laptop I also left in Spain. I never thought I was gonna stay in UK this long so it's a right old PITA now.

This is what I did last weekend.
Went to the mountains by Leadville, rented a whole B&B with friends, used our two person tub, ate well, slept a bit, watched the fire in the fireplace, soaked in the hot tub outside watching it snow. (no pics of that) Then went home from 30deg weather to 70 deg weather.

Before it broke, I was using a Canon S2IS. I absolutely loved that camera. I'm in the market for something newer and nicer. Either from Canon or Nikon.
Below is my favorite photo I have taken, it's the view out of a watchtower at Fort Casey in Washington State.

Oh, and I'll join...by proxy...when my wife got back from Kuwait I bought her a Canon t1i with kit lens and a little 55-250 f4-5.6 IS lens for a little zoom magic. She's added a 50 f/1.8 II to the mix for some macro loving. I'll have to poke around here and see if I've got anything worthy...

For my resizing, I actually get the best results with Paint.NET. It's super-sampling resizer does a spectacular job.
Paint.NET is pretty bare bones. I don't do photography but I used to do graphic design, such as forum signatures. I use GIMP, it's the best free software out there without a doubt, except for a PS crack.

That temple was built by two notorious highway robbers in repentence for robbing piligrims heading to another, much bigger temple. Sadly, nobody goes to that temple because they consider it a product of sin and crime. But for its architecture, the Archeological Survey adopted it as a protected monument.

I got a new Sigma 10-20mm wide angle in the mail today. It's going to make a huge difference. I took a couple of quick shots before dinner, just to compare it to my standard 18-55. They aren't very good, but are a good demonstration.
Both shots were centered on the telephone pole.

As far as my new wide angle is concerned, it's a lemon and I'm sending it back for replacement. Really disappointing, since I went to a shop with my uncle (in-law) and shot with all the lenses and the Sigma looked much better than even the $800 Nikon. Should have bought locally instead of online:mad:

I just bought a nifty fifty for the $100 it cost me. I am hoping that with a fixed zoom will give me some really awesome night shots. Plus a three pack of filters for it, i tried the circular polarized and it actually isn't truly circularly polarized, but more of a inverted horseshoe. It does however remove alot of glare and unless you are shooting something odd (like a TV you won't see the polarization lines.

Those are RAW converts. Get a set of stackable filters for each size of lens you have. I use a UV then my adjustable polarizing filter on top, just turn until the lights and people disappear.
I used my nifty fifty and those two filters, and even with the low light and the combination filters the extra f stops made all the world of difference, I want a 1.2 with stabilization now, and a full telephoto.

Never thought about bringing in my polarizer into a aquarium. With polarizers you usually lose 2 stops of light. And with aquariums usually being pretty dark you usually have to crank up the ISO on top of that. But will have to give it a try next time im around one at Sea World. But I would never put my polarizer on top of my UV filter. Dont you get vignetting at the corners of your pictures like I have when I tried it.

I don't get too much vignette with both filters stacked even at the wide angle spectrum. If you're shooting full frame then yes it probably becomes a problem.

I was looking at your exif info. Just some advice. You were using ISO 3200. Try lowering that ISO if possible for future shots. And it seems the camera focused in on the rear of the dog instead of the face. You were using F4 maybe play with your camera and try F10 for a shot like that so more is in focus. With a DSRL its much easier to get bokeh and whatever is not directly in focus tends to go blury much easier in the background. With compact cameras and there small senors the bokeh effect is much harder to achieve so this shot is easier in very good light for a small compact.

I especially like the first one and think I see what you did there. There are enough light sources and reflective surfaces that you could keep a lot of the detail from going black without using any HDR techniques.
I finally decided to learn how to use the manual setting on my T1i. It's pretty cool. Once you set the aperture (ISO is forced to 400), as you move the shutter speed, it eventually goes into minutes and seconds of exposure required for the image. I'm sure this is the sort of feature that's been around forever and I'm just finding out about it, but i think that is incredibly cool.

Cool thanks. These were all taken as soon as it got the camera. Yeah I posted over in the TPU Darkroom as well hoping to find some conversation. If you want to take low level light/night pictures, get a tripod, shutter release switch, open the aperture all the way and play around with the shutter speed that gives you the best result. You can get some really cool effects.
