I bought this plastic case for protection had a lip up from the front to keep the screen from hitting the ground, and had a full back cover. Well had the phone for a couple of months and it broke on me. Well wasted $30 that was. I dropped the thing once on wednesday and it was broken on the bottom today some how.

Any recommendations on protective cases?

I like silicone cases most. I use it on my LG. Cheap, shock-absorbing and give you a grip on the phone. It's only $7 from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Nextware-Silicone-Case-iPhone-Black/dp/B001HPL51K).

If you want ultimate protection, go with an otterbox

http://www.otterbox.com/iphone-cases/iphone-3g-3gs-cases/iphone-3g-3gs-defender-case/

It adds some bulk, but keeps your phone safe. You can find them on ebay for like $20-30

Isn't there an app for that? :p

I have a hard plastic shelled case which has saved the corners of my G1 many times.

Yeah they're weird looking but man they work lol... I've dropped my phone tons of times and there's nothing wrong with it.

I've got the Impact series (http://www.otterbox.com/iphone-cases/iphone-3g-3gs-cases/iphone-3g-3gs-impact-case/) model. Cheaper than the defender, although I prolly would have bought the defender at the price at ebay. I should have checked. It's a great case nonetheless, not quite as bulky as the defender.
