On our previous board I had a thread about bank closings here in the U.S.
I tracked it weekly as the FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation) closed banks on friday.
I kept a running total by month.
Since I believe that bank closings will accellerate this year I would like to re-create the thread here.
My last report for December of 09 looked like this:
Bank Closing Information - December 18, 2009
These links contain useful information for the customers and vendors of these closed banks.

Independent Bankers Bank, Springfield, IL
New South Federal Savings Bank, Irondale, AL
Citizens State Bank, New Baltimore, MI
Peoples First Community Bank, Panama City, FL
RockBridge Commercial Bank, Atlanta, GA

The commercial RE market here in the U.S. is in the toilet with huge amounts of available space and defaults galore. This will put pressure on local and regional banks who were tied heavily into the commercial real estate markets.
