... The Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event of the year, yet if you ask ten random people on the street what the name of the trophy is that's won at the Bowl they can't tell you it's the Lombardi Trophy, however if you ask them what the NHL champions win they can name the Stanley Cup within seconds, and hockey is the least popular of the major sports.
The same would probably hold true as well if you had a picture of each and just said "What's the name of this trophy?"
In fact a lady at work today told me she was happy for the Saints that they won the Heisman, I just laughed to myself and walked away.

The trophies and awards are pretty worthless in football IMO. They don't call it the Lombardi trophy playoffs like the NHL calls it the Stanley Cup playoffs. That's why it's more recognizable.
I didn't know it was called Lombardi Trophy.
Then again football is not popular here and we only know the Superbowl from American sitcoms.
Howerver I did know about the Stanley Cup. I learned that from Southpark lol.

But my point is even if you said "can you tell me the names of these two trophies" 9 out of 10 Americans would be stumped.
