So my all time favorite has to be Daft Punk. I love the Alive album and it's short of nothing but the best!
Close seconds are Basement Jaxxs, Overseerer, Fisherspooner, Xceutioners, and other notable mentions.
My fav club mixer is Matt Darey, check his site:

Can I join?
I'm currently listening to Armin Van Buuren, which has to be my favourite, followed by Daft Punk, DJ Rabaan, DJ Icey, Benny Benassi, East Clubbers, and other dream trance artists.

I was actually introduced to trance by an ex girlfriend who used to dance to it.
Yes, it's what you're thinking. This was way before the wife and kids.
Anywho, Paul Oakenfold and Tiesto are two of my faves. I love what Oakenfold does with other people's songs like U2 and Garbage.
My favorite Oakenfold song. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAzwWN43SFs)

Most of my family live in Berlin..and some of those clubs in the fatherland get pretty crazy. I go to see my family a few times every year. I can't remember the names of the places my cousins and I go to but it's techno clubs and they are fun as hell.

Also a little Slap Chop DJ remix:

Aaah Daft Punk, there is nothing like driving on the Autobahn at three in the morning, its winter, nobody is on the road but you, the street lights gloomy, One More Time pumping from the stereo and you just know: Life is great.
Besides Daft Punk I don't really listen to any specific groups/artists, however I do enjoy the Trance Around the World program. And I like trance/dance remixes of songs. Theres a trance remix of the Mirrors Edge theme, and its mindblowingly good.

I can't believe this thread has evaded my attention for so long. Most of my techno favorites can already be found in 'The Crazy Youtube' / 'What Are You Listening To?' threads, so I won't beat you guys over the head with them too many times. Having said that, I am going to repost a couple. Prepare for a deluge.
Daft Punk is the first name I'll mention, but I'll only mention them in passing. If you're looking for a great album listening experience, get their Alive 2007 album and listen to that. It's probably the only album I own that I can listen to every song start to finish (and more than once too), and the only album where I want to start at song 1 and listen to all of them if I listen to any of them. With that said, the first video is a Daft Punk / Queen Mashup by Party Ben.
XNXSBoDRSx8
Party ben has a ton of Mashups that tend towards the techno side of things, and most can easily be found on Youtube or free on his website (party ben . com). This next one and 'Pump up the Doorbell' are probably my favorites of his creations.
6Wpfd_wdLH0
DJStevePorter is another artist I learned about via Youtube, and one of his videos has been posted further up. My current favorite of his is:
gxdbuuVGdS0
I just found this, and I think its pretty good (:rockout: Gerudo Valley):
unnp2JFUoB4
Another lesser known artist found through Youtube resulted in me finding this:
LSNyWGc0gsU
I'll let you chew on that before I flood you guys with too much more, though having seen 'DotA' mentioned, I'm going to get that playing.

I put a space before the second part of the tag, otherwise it would play the video.

Anyone know good trance compilation albums? I don't have anything trance except Cream Trance Anthems Ibiza 2009, great album but I don't know much trance. I like these tracks most:
Chicane - Poppiholla
Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel
Armin Van Buuren - Never Say Never
Ferry Corsten - We Belong (Tritonal Air Up There Remix)
OceanLab - On A Good Day
Marco V - Unprepared
Dash Berlin & Cerf - Man On The Run
Simon Patterson - Thump
Lange & Skye - Drifting Away
Mauro Picotto - Lizard
Ferry Corsten - Made Of Love
Steve Angello - Isabel
So maybe someone can recommend something :)

If you want to show tags without actually using them, use . Gives you this: [yt]x6HLrVPGkVc instead of having to use code tags or space things out funny.

Im slowly getting back into trance music again.... (blah - back in the days before I was forced to listen to RHCP & Iron Maiden)
can anyone suggest a few decent groups or artists?
----
yes as my guitars would have to believe - I was really into drum&bass, trance, & dance before I discoverd my love for Queen & Elvis.

Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren, Dash Berlin, Sander Van Doorn, Paul van Dyk, Lange & Sky to name a few.
Album wise, Cream Trance Anthems Ibiza 2009 and Trance 100 2010 Volume 1 are good, they're both compilation albums so you're not stuck to 1 artist and you get a nice selection.
Just stay away from Tiesto, too mainstream/commercial compared to other trance in my opinion.
