So yeah I want to be as awesome as this guy here

WxFEsLtdNfs

Well the somersaults and flips etc might be a liiiittle difficult:D
But the bo staff wielding, I want to be able to do that, too. But it is much harder than it looks.

I have already seen some basics videos, so far spinning a staff with two hands poses no problem. Although I'm still slow at spinning, my forearms hurt (you need to have forearms made of steel) and my hands are red and blue from bruises, I see progress. And its fun. But my furniture took some hits lol.

So, anybody too has this goal? Or experience in that and can give me some tips or something? Because the tutorials I have seen are mostly from showoffs... they go like "okay you take this hand there and then you do that, and then you can do this *spins bo staff so fast you don't see it anymore*"
Especially wielding the staff with one hand, I'm lost there.

:)

You know, there's like a boat-load of gangs at this school. This one gang kept wanting me to join because I'm pretty good with a bow staff.

I loves bo's.

Those buddhists monks can do that kind of think when they are stupidly young. still looks impressive though.

wow, he's movng much to fast for the 15fps vid to show. lol Definetly crazy stuff. Always makes you wonder why local police aren't learning this stuff, could you imagine him on riot duty?

You could easily knock out a whole bunch of baddies if you go berserk like that. You just have to be careful not to knock yourself out, too.

Ever since I saw the 40's Robinhood Film in B&W on TV I've been messing about with a quarterstaff and then after seeing masses of early "Kung Fu" films I realized the quarterstaff is to a bo as a broadsword is to a katana...slow and unwieldy. I can do some stuff but I am terribly out of shape. My advice is to not worry about speed...work on getting comfortable with the moving staff, shifting from hand to hand, letting the staff slide to get reach or finding the balance point to get speed. It's a great weapon, one of the few that are not likely to require registration with the law.

I'm partial to Jo staffs. The Jo staff is to to a bo as a katana is to a wakizashi.
