Because I would love to own some House and SVU in 1080p.
Why is it that they don't re release some of this stuff on Blu-Ray... or even Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, because I missed most of that because I had a hard time remembering he was on an hour earlier and I would miss it and get stuck watching Fallon... but I guess Fallon isn't so bad... it cold have been worse and been Jay Leno...
Anyway, I'd like to see some of my favoirte old shows come out in high def, wouldn't you guys?

The tonight show in 1080p? What's the point in that? Next you want it in 3D, get Jay Lenos chin in your face. There really is little added value in most cases. I usually don't even download 720p versions.

Download?!? :gasp:
Screw Leno, Conan is the real host of Tonight.
I'd just like to be able to watch some SVU or House reruns on my 47" Plasma without it looking like ass. Tonight was just an afterthought.
Honestly I would settle for 720p on them, because good 720p doesn't look any different to me than 1080.

I don't have a TV or cable. Downloading is legal here, plus local stations don't broadcast many series and are usually ~2 seasons behind. It's the best solution.

I have found a few sites that rebroadcast HULU for international viewers so you don't need to be a season or two behind..

I'd like to see more TV shows on Blu-ray too. My cable here sucks balls in quality, it's worse quality than standard definition rips on the internet. 624x352 videos with 900-1,000kbps bitrate are better quality than my cable. Not to mention most shows are behind (with the exception of House, as far as I know it's only like 2 weeks behind the US which is a first) but everything else is pretty far ahead in the US.
Not to mention the reruns here, Two And A Half Men on Comedy Central ALWAYS play repeats, you watch it for 2 weeks and you're guaranteed to see the same episode at least 3 times. I downloaded Season 3 and 4 a few months ago (It's on like 7 or something now) and I was watching new episodes.
Then there's also the fact DVDs aren't out over here, like Mythbusters. King of the Hill season 6 (7-13 isn't out on DVD) and DVDs aren't done properly either, Season 1 and 2 of House in Region 2 are 4:3 and the American ones are 16:9.

I think the thing is most hd on Tv is not 1080P at the best it would be 720P and trying to film in that sought of res cost shitloads. Its not like major movies with huge budgets none of the tvs could mach that.

Doesn't matter, even at only 720, you still have the benefit of more storage space and the better h.264 compression of BD. You can fit more on a single disc.

sure that's what this place is for, as long as you don't post adverts or spam
you can say pretty much what you like (as long as it's not malicious racist or bashing other members ;))
anyways back on topic
i'm not fussed about tv shows so much as we have things like bbc i player, itv player , 4 on demand and five.tv afaik they are stream only and drm managed, so theirs no sneaky recording and backing them up onto disk (no sports) :(
but they are there anyway so no need to waste space recording them
i wouldn't mind getting a blueray recorder and backing up some of the 720 x 576 stuff i have but i'm in no rush
so no i can't really see the point unless your really into talk shows ,all we have over here is jeremy kyle telling lazy bums to get off there arses and get a job and daytime tv crap (not worth the space :p)
