...trying to put together a playlist for the rowing machine at the gym. Ran it all through the analyzer, sorted by BPM (130-145) and ended up with a totally schitzophrenic collection.

Most of it makes sense (tempo-wise), but some of the selections made me laugh:

Molly Ban (Chieftans, very slooooow, dirge-like ballad)

Dream A Little Dream of Me (Mama's and Papas)

Wishing You Were Here (classic Chicago, prom belly-rubbing, slow dance song)

Welcome to the Machine and Shine on You Crazy Diamond pts 1-9 (Huh? Pink Floyd get-stoned-and-veg is 140 BPM???)

No Dropkick Murphys, no Ramones...ack. This is going to be more work than I thought.

I always hated making situation specific playlists. My collection is just too extensive, and I love too much music.

If I'm not too arsed about the quality, I just use Genius playlists in iTunes. It usually gets it pretty close to correct. The compressed formats are a no-no for my serious music listening, tho.

You mean lossy (e.g. WMA, MP3), right? Ogg Vorbis is an example of a compressed format.

When I work out the Rocky IV sound track does it for me lol. Though none of the music I listen to is below 150BPM :D

Yeah. Brain fart. Most of my stuff is losslessly compressed, but still compressed
