Yeah, you know that German group who change genre every damn year? Yeah, them. I hate them. They honestly make me sick, I'm not even joking whenever I hear one of their songs I honestly feel sick.
Their latest album, Under The Radar Over The Top, was released in September 2009. It's hardstyle. I'm a huge fan of hardstyle, I'm addicted to it and it got me into DJing. When I get money I'll be travelling all over Europe to different events, from all night outdoor events in The Netherlands to an all night party on a cruise ship in Sweden. I fucking love the music, I listen to pretty much every producer big or small, new and old tracks.
But one thing I don't like, is Scooter. They're hardstyle and extremely popular, but I hate them. Their newest album is pretty much just copied from other songs, maybe just slightly tweaked. The other week I saw their video for J'adore Hardcore on TV. You know they're popular if hardstyle played on TV here.
Contrary to the title, the song isn't hardcore. It's hardstyle, so for some reason they like hardcore but not enough to make a track of that genre, adding insult to injury the video features 2 people doing the Melbourne shuffle, also known as the hardstyle shuffle. Now if I'm in the mood for hardcore, I don't listen to hardstyle and do the shuffle, I listen to some fuckin hardcore, proper Masters of Hardcore and Thunderdome shit.
Such a shame, they're ruining the image of hardstyle. A genre which isn't mainstream in Ireland or the UK. People's perception of the genre is what they hear from Scooter, mainly some stolen melody with some shitty lyrics thrown in like "alright, yeah" or "give it up, give it up, give it up".
So you've got people listening to Scooter and thinking OMG HARDSTYLE RULEZ yet they wouldn't know anything about the genre, producers like Headhunterz, Technoboy, The Prophet or Zany to name a few, or about b2s, Q-Dance or Bass Events who organize the big events in The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. They will never play at the big hardstyle events, you will never see them at events like Defqon.1, Decibel or Q-Base. All are 12+ hour multistage events. Q-Base being the biggest, lasting for 16 hours with over 100 DJs taking place in Airport Weeze, Germany, their homeland.
Adding to that, most hardstyle producers don't like them, you can see why in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iruwYeOtro) that most of Scooter's tracks are pretty similar to other tracks from well known producers. I found out about that video when producers were posting about it on Twitter and making fun of Scooter.
But, at the end of the day, they sell millions and millions of records and people buy their shit. I know people sample music, but every song? How original. So I'd like to thank Scooter for shitting on every real hardstyle producer and commercializing the fuck out of it.
Anyway that's just my rant about a group who can't come up with their own shit, I hate them for everything they've done. I can't wait for next year when they change genre again. What's next, French Tek?
