Go Garmin or go home. Best devices, best support, best gps ever.

Take this for starters, Garmin owns GPS in every category: Auto, Marine, Aviation, Fitness, and Outdoor.

Magellen at best has a share of the Auto market. Thats it.

Who you gonna go with?

yeah but the magellan has more features tho and more routing engine options.

however garmin is a more secure company magellan got bought out by MiTAC.

I don't know which is gonna be better.

keep at it the more people talk about this the better thanks so much :)

I personally use Microsoft Streets & Trips 2007 (upgrading to 2011 later this year) paired with a Pharos GPS 500 receiver. Not very portable but it is pretty damn accurate.

I've had 2 Garmins. They work great. Very accurate. "Loaned" the first one to a friend. I've seen a lot of bad press for Magellan. Wouldn't touch them personally.

My step-dad has a Magellan (don't know which one) for work and I've used it a few times. I really don't like it. It always gives wacky directions.

they use very aggressive routing. my old magellan hiking gps did too. it had us drive thtough an apartment complex's parking lot and it saved us 20 minutes! I actually like that kinda routing!
