Jordan WAS the best, but I don't think as much anymore. He was amazing, but the people he played against back in his day were not nearly as good as today's players, thus today being a great player requires greater skill.

Bullshit. The game requires the same skill now as it did when Jordan was king. What has changed?

The skill level of the players that play against the greats today is higher than it was in the past.

Jordan wasn't playing THAT long ago. Normally that is brought up when comparing much longer time frames. Players he was against probably haven't gotten THAT much better than they are now. MJ has done some amazing stuff.

yeah I think you're forgetting some major players of Jordan's time. I blame youth on this assumption.

This. If you werent around when jordan was king, you wouldn't know. And yea, I can see someone saying that about people playing basketball in the 1940s or something, but the game hasn't changed a bit since jordan. If anything it has got dumber. Now its more about brute force and timing an opening (the player who has the ball versus the other team) whereas back in the day it was much more about strategy and moving your team to "make" that opening... today they just wait for the other team to make a mistake and exploit it, least that's what I see. Too many chiefs, not enough teams.

I agree. Today, it seems more like street ball than setting up plays.
