So everyone here being techies, I thought I'd ask. Can y'all recommend some good phones that are relatively cheap? Also cannot be a smartphone.

Also, are there any phones that are similar to smartphones but I can get without a smartphone plan so I don't have to pay that extra $30 a month?

For Verizon there arent really many phones that arent smart phones tbh.

Multimedia phones are better than regular ones but still require a 10 dollar data package. Anything cheaper than that is just your average run of the mill phones like a Razer and stuff like that.

I just got an older Motorola W376g. It's similar to a Rzr but a little thicker and heavier.

I got the Tracfone version (so you can't use the SIM in another phone) and it seems ok so far. Don't plan on doing any web browsing though.

On the plus side, it has bluetooth.

I had a hard time finding it though and ended up getting one NIB from ebay.

Not really. Check out phonescoop.com. They have every phone on the planet. The phone this replaced was a bar phone. All the clamshells are going to look a little bit similar anyway.

I have a preference for Motorola phones and really would have preferred a Rzr of some kind, but the last one I got would have a nervous breakdown from time to time. It would start turning itself on and off f or no reason.

It turned out that the SIM wasn't making good contact, but since that seems to have been a design flaw, I went with something different.

Well since i have Verizon i dont deal with sims. But pretty much by razer type of phone i mean you can text and call and thats about it. My razer had MP3 playback but didnt come with a headphone jack or adapter. It also had a browser but it sucked hard.

I'd love a smartphone but don't want to pay extra. If Verizon were a GSM network instead of CDMA, I'd have no probably finding a smartphone mock for cheap.

Why don't you just switch to AT&T?

He might not be on his own plan. I was stuck with a razer for 2 years because my sister didnt want to change her plan. Finally when i moved out and got my own plan she changed her data plan, got her a phone with a data package, got unlimited texts, 200 more daytime minutes and it wound up cheaper in the long run cause the package itself was cheaper and better. Actually no. Some of them just have Wifi features and such instead of 3g, so a data plan wouldn't be necessary. I'd be perfectly fine with having only Wifi on my phone.

Ive never seen a non smartphone with wifi.

I said a mock. Meaning it's similar, with similar functions, but some don't have 3G capabilities.

Such as - http://cgi.ebay.com/F806-Unlocked-WIFI-TV-JAVA-AT-T-mobile-cell-phone-C5000-/180524442262?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item2a08186296

Edit - And yes, I'm on a family plan with the rest of my family so I can't really switch to AT&T.

With all them features a phone like that would require a data plan. Even some of the cheapest Verizon phones require at least a 9.99 data plan. Ive been looking to get off a data plan as well. The only reason our damn bill is so high is cause the BB data plan. Its different from the rest.

BB plans are like an extra $30 right? How much are other smartphones per month?
