Bay star 'gets abuse from fans'

Home And Away star Luke Jacobz still gets abuse from fans for his character's killing of Jack Holden.

http://estb.msn.com/i/88/96D1B343AB3C4887346FD6AFCCEC2.jpgIn the show, Luke's policeman alter ego Angelo Rosetta shot Jack dead and tried to cover up the fact that he was to blame.

In an interview with the soap's Aussie website, Luke (pictured left) said:
"I still get people giving me filthy looks and not wanting to be around me or yelling out abuse from a car."

He added: "I was at the supermarket one day and as I was in the line a lady actually walked in,
pushed my trolley out the way and said 'I can't believe you killed Jack.'

"She literally stood in front of me in the line, I didn't know what to say.
I said 'Sorry, Angelo did it' and she said ''no, you did it.' All the people around us had a bit of a chuckle."

He went on: "Some people think he's completely realistic,
which is great and people don't want to get photos because I killed Jack.
They don't want to get a photo with a murderer, so that's a little bit weird."

I had to look this up on tv.com. It's been on the air since 1988? Not bad. I guess this is a UK soap. Entry doesn't say what networks it's on but for 'related shows' it has the East Enders.

OK, wikipedia to the rescue - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_and_Away

Home and Away is an Australian soap opera that has been produced in Sydney by the Seven Network since July 1987. It premiered in January 1988 and is the second longest-running drama on Australian television, winning more than 30 Logie Awards.[1]

People do seem to get wrapped up in their soap operas. I kinda like The Bill which I guess technically isn't a soap, but it's damned close.

It might be on BBC America, but I don't think so. I dl it from Giganews. There's a newsgroup for UK dramas that I used to troll for new viewing material. That's how I discovered Taggart (which isn't nearly as good as it used to be), Touch of Frost, Wire in the Blood and a host of other shows including The Bill.

It doesn't really matter how big a country is. From the perspective of the individual, everything is local - as this famous poster indicates.

True^ I was in Racine for training all last week and all the people kept looking at me as I didn't have the local accent. A few even wanted to talk to me as I pronounced all the letters, instead of pro noun sin all deh leattars.

One woman even corrected me on the pronunciation of Beta, Dey pro nounce it BAata up dere. I wanted to start saying derp after I repeated everything some of them said with their heavy accents.

This is almost as hilarious as them "Reality shows" on TV.. Want reality? Look out your window.
