Don't know if you guys saw this, but there's now a web based iOS 4 jailbreak available and it doesn't get any easier than this. Visit http://jailbreakme.com/ on your iPhone/iPod and slide to unlock.

That said, it's not working for me right now lol. I'm reinstalling iOS 4 as I had the Gold Master candidate on mine and it might be the issue.

Its an exploit in the PDF rendering. It allows a script or executable, which is how they snuck in the jailbreak executable in Safari. Pretty engenius move on comexs` part.

That exploit will be plugged by the end of August. I can assure you Jobs has blown a gasket over this.

And who was it that makes PDF again....he he

After reinstalling iOS4 it worked, I guess it's because I was on the Gold Master, either that or it was iBooks. I'm free...again :P The battery percentage is now gone, I thought it was in iOS4? Either that or it stayed from my 3.1.3 jailbreak.

I wouldn't recommend doing that as it VOIDS your warranty and as soon as you do it Apple knows...any unauthorized mods made to the software is instantly sent to Apple via UMTS (cellular data band) which works a lot like HDCP...But if you don't care about your warranty have at it..

But I can assure you even though it's legal and it does work for some people It bricks at least 50% of the phones people attempt to Jailbreak and apple is working to make sure that future models will result in a 100% "bricking" of the phones people attempt to jailbreak

You can't brick an iPhone or iPod, it's possible to restore it no matter how fucked up. I couldn't give a shit about the warranty either, it's unlikely my iPod is going to die in the next 5 months and given the poor state of the outside of it, they'd probably think I broke it and refuse to cover it under warranty. I've jailbroken my iPod about 5 times now and it's fine.

I tried going to this page on my iPhone the other day, and said safari cannot load the page :(. But it looks like redsn0w has a jailbreak for 4.0.1

Maybe not the Ipod but I assure you i talk to at least 1 person a day that cannot get their IPhone 4 to turn on, I have yet to encounter this problem with any other IPhone..
I wouldn't know for sure but possibly Apple has done something to make that happen....

Whether or not there is something you could do to fix that I wouldn't know.

Those people who you talk to are idiots who should learn how to DFU their phone.

Here is the deal. You get me these so called "bricked" phones, and I will buy them off you for 50 bucks each (hey they are broken right). I will buy as many as you can get me (this does not include phones truly "bricked" because of physical damage!)

Then I will take them home, put them in DFU mode, restore with iTunes, jailbreak it properly and sell it on EBay for 500 bucks.

You should really learn about something before you start scaring people with those uninformed comments.

Ive been jailbreaking and modding my iDevices for over 3 years.

I was scared my ipod touch was totally bricked but it turns out as long as its a software issue it can be fixed.

Like I said if there is something you could do to fix it I wouldn't know..

I'm simply told to say:
I'm sorry but "jailbreaking" or modifying your Apple Software Voids your Warranty and as you have an attempted modification there is nothing I can do for that device, If you would like to order another device I'd be more than happy to get you started on that...(If no) I don't even have to listen to them bitch I can simply disconnect..

Now I'm sure there is something you could do to fix it and I'm sure it's easy to do, But we are talking about Apple fanboi douche bags and I can assure you at least 50% of these people have an IQ of 75 or less.

But again I didn't post to scare people but there is the chance after doing such a thing you may "temporarily" brick your phone IF you don't know what to do..

I can also assure you that Apple is working on ways to help that happen as they don't want anyone doing anything to their products...

I'll say this..Apple products are not for poor people and they don't want poor people making mods to their products they simply want you to wait for the next model and pay more money..

You know, if you didn't make bold claims without actually knowing anything, you won't need to make more baseless bold claims to make yourself look less of a tool.

i guess i just dont understand? you cant brick it? iv beat the crap out of my phone and iv seriously messed it up. but their is recovery and DFU mode. DFU is hardware based its sets the chips up for flash. i just dont understand how its at all possible barring hardware damage to brick it.

Yeah well, hard to resist when you see someone who is suppose to help customers solve problems but doesn't know their own products that well.

so? it can go both ways. i know iv been in situations were i know the answer but i have to say what the company wants me too. and that makes you the customer look like a tool.

I agree wholeheartedly. This is a situation where he knows the answer but has to say what the company wants him to. I do look like a tool*. Thank you.

Right or wrong, there's no need to call someone a name, simply stating that they're right/wrong is good enough.

Jeez lol. So what apps do you guys have? I can't remember what I did to get the battery percentage seen in the screenshot, doesn't seem to be in Winterboard or SBSettings.

LOL! So this is why people spent hours trying to get something through the thick skulls of CSR agents.

Ok so I tried not being a DICK today and when I got one of those calls instead of simply giving the "canned" answer I decided to investigate the issue...

Even though If it is a "quality call" I could be fired..Likely not gonna happen since I spent 1.5 hours helping this guy out....

Turns out I am a DOUCHE and it's not the JAILBREAKING that's causing these issues...

Ok so here is a summary of what I learned...

This guy in particular had already done the JAILBREAK successfully however he encountered to many problems with some of the third party apps he thought maybe it would be a good idea to update his IPhone via Itunes 9.2

So during the update with Itunes his phone had froze and become unresponsive he had a white screen with some letters on it (don't remember what) and then the screen went black He tried to power cycle the phone to no avail He also tried rebooting his computer and tried to disconnect and reconnect the phone and still nothing...

<short fix>
So I had him uninstall Itunes and download cCleaner> run cCleaner> restart redownload Itunes> Install Itunes> and then update his phone Via Itunes and VOILA! success...

Again maybe there is another way to fix this but I wouldn't know....
I don't know why it happened and I don't care...But this guy was in no way technically minded and I'm willing to bet the other people i talk to about this are either So~

Ummmm, no. Not true at all. I sent 2 iPhones in on warranty, and they hadn't the slightest fucking clue they were jailbroken.

And jailbreaking allows you to turn off the Apple killswitch. lol.

I guarantee that

Wile E
08-06-2010, 05:06 AM
Nope, 3GS. And all you have to do is flash it back, and they have no proof. If it's so screwed you can't flash it, they can't read the fucking thing anyway. Had one the screen quit working on. Reflashed to stock, sent it in. The other died altogether. Sent it in still jailbroken. No probs.

IPhone 4 will be no different. The nature of flashing the hardware is the same.

I agree but I don't think it's perfected as of yet, But since it's being so openly done Apple is gonna be out done...

The sad fact is Apple doesn't see they have a Fantastic product that is quite capable of doing more and they could probably gain back the numbers they are losing to droid if they would just stop trying to stop people from getting full use of the devices and embrace it...

Personally my only problem with the IPhone is Apple...and as you guys demonstrate it's quite an amazing device being held back by sheer ignorance....

That about sums it up. I want a full Android port for iPhone, and it would be the perfect device for me.
