Stop trolling of course there are trucks in Europe. Drop the $$ and you can have a Chevy Silverado Quad Cab. Semis exist too.
The more you know.....

Not here though. Most prefer to get a Land Rover since most hunters are farmers as well and they have better off-road.
Anyone who drives an SUV in the UK is a twat. The roads are already too small and tight turns especially in the towns where before there were roads for cars they were for pedestrians and they just put roads on them and they are waaay too small.

We don't drive pickups because we don't need them and you need to realize our gas is twice the price here and we pay out the ass for insurance. Anything bigger than a 2.5L is going to cost a shit ton to insure. If our job doesn't require jeeps or vans, we drive cars.
We have vehicles for the necessary jobs. Construction workers usually drive vans, such as the Ford Transit which comes in 3 different sizes. Anything larger and a truck will do the job.

Well yes, many people in the US have trucks for no reason. Even with that, at least 25%-30% of people who have trucks use them for what they are made for.

Yeah we use jeeps pretty much for all that and if a jeep cant hold it a van can. Also for more than one horse you just get a bigger horsebox or you can rent a lorrie for large amounts of them.

indeed we do gappy, indeed we do. Vans are good at moving household items that are too big for a car, if it's bigger we get a lorry/truck that will accommodate whatever we are moving. You also forget that we are a smaller country, our roads are narrower. Try getting your truck down one of our lanes, you'd be fucked up shits creek with no paddle to speak of.

My car is tiny and I have trouble going down streets especially when on each side of it there are rows and rows of cars parked.

Round here roads that wide are common, although not used that much because they are strictly farmer roads.

Yeah I was just on a road like that had to stop and pretty much almost ditch my car in a field about 5 times so cars coming towards me had space.

The faster the target moves, the harder it is to hit. Miss too many times and it will be out of range. I guess you better hope that MRAP doesn't have an anti-tank missile system on it. XD

you guys realise that Google Street View extends over pretty much the entire of the UK? Take a look over some of our roads, it's a pretty small country with small poorly-maintained roads... None of our roads are straight, there are no "intersections", we have twisty roads and roundabouts. Oh, an no-one drives automatics.

Good, driving on the straight motorways are fucking boring. Give me an A road with bends in it anyday, less chance of me being constantly reminded that my ass is numb from the driving

That guy most likely had 0 armor, and with a chopper on him, he isn't ever going to get away, no matter how resourceful of a driver he was, even the MRAP would eventually run out of gas. Yes you could use the mounted gun up top on the chopper, but with 0 ammo that won't do any good, and you can't drive and use it anyways, and it leaves you open to police fire. So results would be exactly the same, the guy didn't kill anyone, but he easily could have just ran over a few homes and killed a lot of people, they really couldn't stop him, they had to wait till he stopped himself.

Sure they could have: a hell-fire missile or another tank. That wasn't an M1 Abrams but an M1 Abrams costs over $6 million. That tank, on the loose, could have caused a lot more than $6 million in damages; hence, I'm positive they were in communication with the military had the decision been made to destroy it.

They have in the past. I remember when there was M2 Bradleys surrounding a bulding a cult locked themselves into. They ended up basically destroying the building to drive the cult out and a lot of cult members died (actually, all might have--the leader refused to let them leave).
They also got involved in a civil rights case where the military was ordered to ensure the security of black children attending a white school against the states' (Georgia, I think) wishes.
And they have got involved in rescue operations and securing territory (like New Orleans after Katrina hit).
I think the President has to issue an executive order for the national guard to get involved though.

Another tank or a Hellfire on civilian territory, that would spread across the media like a wild fire, and who knows what could happen if it went wrong. I'm sure the military was in communications with them, but the idea of flat out destroying a tank on civilian land probably wouldn't have been made unless he started running over houses. Either way, point still stands, that without ammo, or the knowledge to fire (if it had ammo), he was going to be taken down eventually, just like anything else that is that slow with a chopper following it.

We can all drive those, you know what he means, something that actually can haul things, like sheets of ply wood, lumber, and many other things that just won't fit in a car with 4 doors.

And you don't think a tank on the loose driving by a mad man isn't? I'm sure if the decision were made to destroy it, it would have been carried out by a Cobra or Apache. Hellfire missiles are designed to kill everything inside the tank and leave the tank in relative good condition. They are wire-guided missiles and never miss their target.
The only reason why they could take it down is because he didn't lock the hatch. He could have barricaded himself in that tank for 3 days without fuel or ammo.
The point is the cops would have won, one way or another. It was one man versus hundreds.

Thats not from an Apache, but I can't imagine theirs are any different, and that tanks from from any sort of intact, and the blast radius on that is way too big for a city street.
But like you said at the end, and what I been saying the entire time is, no matter what vehicle, or what destruction level, something that slow will eventually just get taken down.

Your thinking of kinetic penetrating rounds that kill the crew and leave a hole in the tank leaving it relatively intact albiet useless.

All weapons, less the ABL, are kinetic. HELLFIRE uses a high explosive anti-tank round to blow away the primary layer of armor then sends a metal augmented charge into the crew compartment which has the effect of a detonating a frag grenade inside a tank.
Yes, you wouldn't want to be close to it when the HEAT goes off but if you were 30+ feet away, you'd most likely survive.
Here's a hellfire attack on armor:
aU1ukWWOFqg
Note how the shrapnel is big peices and they don't fly very far.
@1Kurgan1: that looks like a Javelin missile launcher. The Hellfire is over 100 lbs and can NOT be shoulder fired (it is an air-to-surface missile). The Javelin always attacks the top of the vehicle where armor is weakest (which it did in the video).
Javelin would get the job done though. As would a TOW missile (although less effective against modern armor than Javelin and Hellfire).

They're cheap to insure and practical. You, your wife, your kids, your dog, and all that miscellaneous junk fits with room to spare. The clean stuff goes in, the dirty stuff goes out. The only downside to owning them is their mediocre fuel economy. Considering all the postives, that's a limited downside.
