They call the gift bags they give to Oscar nominees 'swag bags', and i've seen the term in the NYT and other places, so I think it's pretty common. IIRC, it's an old pirate term.

Swag in PC land basically means free shit. Free swag is a general term in like all PC conventions or LAN parties (that have sponsors).

ya all the young kids around here started to use clutch i think last year. Atleast thats the first time i had heard it when i was leaving the discovery store and 2 teen girls were walking out of abacrombie.

I knew what swag meant, I just don't have any. I got sent a box of some Symbian desk goodies like pens, notepads, USB-hubs etc. Does that count? lol

I've never gone to a PC event, I don't really know if there's any around here, but at car shows and such you get fuck all freebies. Except at Top Gear Live I got like 10 free Yorkie bars and kept getting loads of Cider samples lol I've yet to see any swag. If you want a t-shirt, you have to pay. A lot.

The only acceptable uses of the word clutch are in reference to the mechanical coupling devices generally used in between engines and transmissions, or the band. Any person using the word in any other context, should be executed on the spot.

Yeah I can understand free T-shirts and such but what about the 465 and computer you got?

She went to the Nvidia showing in the grand ballroom of the hotel (Hilton Anatole). It was basically the big thing and they called her to answer a few questions or something and she won both. They where also giving out 460s and 480s at the same showing. To be honest it was rigged so she would get something for me cause she hung out with Kingpin and the eVGA crew the whole time. The head of RMA at eVGA called her up and asked her a simple question he had discretely answered before.

eVGA had 460s 1gb SCs for sale for 200 bucks as well as the Razer headphones she got for 60 bucks. They where throwing out Razer Orca headphones into the crowd when they through shirts and free games out. One Orca box was being bounced by crowd hands and came back to the booth and hit Kingpin in the head. The next box they through out the crowd almost plowed a double Asus system in an acrylic box. They had SLI 480s and a 980x on one side and Crossfire Ares 5870s on the other side. Few thousand woulda been ruined if the crowd really woulda knocked it over for a 60 dollar headphone lol. eVGA, and Razer had a booth together.

Antec, InWin, ATI, MSI, CoolerMaster, Bethesda, and a few others where all giving out free hardware. 2 people won the Shelby GT500 drawing and i think 1 gave it up cause they couldnt afford gift tax. He traded his ticket for a GTX480 and 256gb SSD. Alienware was there but where giving out water bottles if you filled out a survey. They had that gay ass Hummer there too.

Getting shirts is pretty easy but getting hardware is a big gamble at Quakecon. Last year we didnt get shit but this year came out on top real good.
