Actual MP3 devices I've had, the 80GB 5.5G iPod, 160GB iPod Classic and the 3G 64GB iPod Touch.
Other things I've used as MP3 players would be my N-Gage with a 1GB MMC card back in 2004, my PSP with a 2GB card in 2005 and my N95 8GB in 2008/9. I also use the N95 when I go cycling for Sports Tracker and music, less devices to carry.

Something really pitiful from about 12 years ago. Small monochrome screen, insanely small amount of memory. Didn't use it much, this was before MP3 players/iPods were big.
Compaq iPaq that took SD cards. I actually used this in between some other players, it worked well as a basic MP3 player.
launch model Toshiba Gigabeat. 15GB capacity IIRC. Had a horrible interface, bad controls, and would ofter lock up. It was a serious peice of junk.
1GB Creative Zen player that I won from the Stacker game in the arcade. It was a pretty nice little player, very small and had good battery life.
First iPod, a refurbished 30GB "Video" (5G). Sexy as hell and served me well. Had to get a few things on it serviced but I used it for about 3 years straight.
4GB Nano 3G (the square one), didn't have it for very long.
16GB Touch 2G, I had a good time with it but sold it after a while.
2GB refurbished Sansa player. My mom uses it for working out at the gym now.
8GB Samsung P2. Pretty nice but the touch screen and interface was quite bad.
32GB iPod Touch 3G. I've had a great time with it thus far. I'm currently debating on putting it up for sale before the new iTouch 4 comes out.

Hmm
mpio FY200 512mb. Still have it, still works, but so little space on it...

Nissan NS-181 29gb. I don't know anything about this player as I bought it off eBay. But it was da blast. I paid like a hundred bucks for 20gb, at that time, a massive bargain. It died when I tried to connect it to my car stereo.

Archos 605 160gb. Whoa. A bargain again, its very low price for what you get. Video, mp3, pictures, even internet. You had to "buy" the internet option, tho. Thats why it was so cheap. You only pay for what you really need. Sadly, it got stolen from my car.

iPod Touch 32gb. Sold it, it annoyed me.

Cowon D2+ DAB 16gb (expandable with SD cards). Nifty gadget, wonderful sound, and DAB radio. The firmware on it is a bit unstable tho. Random crashes, and 16gb of songs that all bear the same name are not rare. Nevertheless, its my current mp3 and I like it. It has to break till I buy a new one.

I use an Ipod classic 80GB every day. Had it since 2007, I use an iSkin to keep it from being destroyed. The wife has a 30GB iPod Video. It works fine, but the interface drives me nuts.
What are the advantages of Rockbox?

I need a new MP3 player. Mine is 2GB, which is supposed to hold 500 4-minute songs. I have 278 songs, and there is 30MB of space left. I need at least an 8GB, as half of the songs in my library aren't even on my iPod. Not to mention it's a piece of shit. Most of the time it won't turn off when I want it to. I have to wait for the backlight to go off before I can shut it off.

80Gb iPod classic. I won it in a debating competition, and I use it about once a month. Most of the time when I travel, I will have friends with me, so its not needed.

I used to use mine on the bus to and from school (listening) and during class (playing simple games).
Now I just use it as a simple remote for my PC :D

The biggest advantages are no need for iTunes, better audio file support (Flac support, yay!). And for the iPod, a goddamn proper EQ.

I use my iPod twice a day for the bus, between 30-45 minutes each way and between 1-2 hours before bed, I used it for free classes at school too.

I use my iPod as a remote for iTunes and VLC player, I also use it as a keyboard and mouse when I hook it up to the TV in the living room :D
