Just got back in from the STP concert in Pittsburgh. They put on an awesome show. They are very tight live, and Scott, thankfully, still has his voice. They did a couple new tracks that were pretty good, but they did mostly early stuff.
All in all, one of the better live bands I have seen. I will be seeing them again if they come back at any point.
Some crappy pics from my sister's phone:

Um those pics look really close, were you?
I'm an early STP fan myself. The Velvet Revolver idea was ok, but Scott was just wacked out.
Gonna go put on Creep, Vasoline, and the rest of Core ;)
All do respect, STP just wasn't as good as some of the other bands during its time. Alice n Chains for example, nuff said.

There is some real talent in the band, for some reason I always gravitated towards others of the period, and earlier. Mother Love Bone, Temple of the Dog, and (of course) Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Soundgarden. Melee already coverd Alice n Chains.

We were in the pit.
I like them all. Pearl Jam, AIC and Soundgarden are at the top of my list. With Pearl Jam at #1 and the other 2 tied for #2.
My preference for STP is Core and Purple. Beyond that, it's usually on a song to song basis on whether I like it or not. I never liked Velvet Revolver at all. I think it took the worst of the 2 bands and put it together, instead of the best of them.
But, don't let how simple STP's music sounds fool you. There is some very technical playing going on there. It's just very subtle. To put it into perspective, the guitarist's main influence is Jimmy Page. They do not have any less talent than AIC in playing. They do lack, however, the same level of song writing ability.
All that said, they put on one hell of a good show, and the tix were cheap to buy. If they come to your area, take the opportunity to go. They won't disappoint you. Oh, and most of the stuff they play is the old stuff. :)
