Mostly upgrades this year if we get to include tax return day as part of the holidays.

- Main box gets a big upgrade, X58 or Sandy.

- Would like to get two sets of PSU and motherboards for a couple Phenom X4 chips I have. They'll use the DDR2 leftover from the main box upgrade.

Good timing too... just last week our 'backup' box started locking up and not restarting unless it rested - bursting caps on the motherboard. It's down. Also, the P4D/Q965 box that the kids/wife share is also starting to having problems. I've stopped WCG on it, hopefully it hold for a couple months.

I'd like some money but people don't like giving me money as a present. Sure, others may not appreciate it, but I do. I'd rather money than a material object. All I do with my money is spend it socializing with my friends, I don't buy new games or anything and I have no money at the moment so have missed out on the past few outings.

She'll get me several things. We set a $300 each budget on gifts for each other. In past years we would spend around $1000-$1300 each on gifts to one another but once the baby came we decided to set a much lower budget and focus more on family and less on us.

Well, it depends on who is the person giving the gift :)

If it's the husband I end up buying my gifts myself (we don't have 'his' and 'hers' money but pool everything collectively and do our purchases from there. Moreover husband knows nothing about computers - I expressly tell him not to buy me anything computer related :eek:).

To be honest I'm not expecting to buy anything for myself this xmas - for my birthday I just got the Dell U2711 and it wasn't exactly cheap, so let's say half of it was for b'day and half for xmas ....

Perhaps this time round we'll purchase TV for 'him' :)


If it's my daughter, I know she'd be spending hours 'crafting/sculpting' something with watercolours, paper, glue and all that -- she believes in making something beautiful for mum, and she always succeeds in spite of her young age.

Then your feet dont get cold and your shoes arent all dirty and smelly and you dont need to buy them as often and it doesnt feel shitty to stand for hours on end. dude socks are legend.

If I could afford it, I'd probably get that instead of the Xigmatek Pantheon that I'm getting. Be aware on that 800D though that the hotswap bays don't support SATA III.

Actually I'm thinking about asking for a NOOKcolor. I played with it at Books a Million last night and it's pretty nice for the price. Like a much cheaper iPad with a smaller screen (just as vivid) and it'll have apps and all that soon.

If you want it for primarily reading, don't do it. The regular Nook is actually better to read books on.

Alright, I looked at the CM 692 Advanced some more and there is one HDD dock/hotswap bay on the top which would be really convenient. Also, it would save me ~$100 vs the Pantheon since I don't have to get it shipped from Europe, and I would definitely have it in time for X-Mas . . .

However, I like the overall styling of the Pantheon more and I would benefit from having two hot-swaps instead of one. I guess I'm just being really picky, but that's probably because I wasn't as picky when I bought my first case and now I regret it.

I guess I'll get something else for X-Mas and wait for Xigmatek to release the Pantheon in the US.

Heh, I would love that, BP mentioned it earlier in the thread. I definitely can't afford that though. Also, it appears the hot-swap board is SATA2, so in the future, I'd need to get a new hot-swap board. Not a huge deal, but just something I'd expect to already have at the price.

Also, I just realized that the 700/800D is fucking ~45 pounds. I go to LAN parties on occasion and I already hate carrying my current case (original TT Armor) The Pantheon is only ~20 pounds. Damn I was about ready to just say fuck the hot-swaps and buy the 700D from micocenter. :(
