So, after days of research, I am going to buy the 5.0. I was building one on the website and I noticed that they have three different rear axle ratios to choose from. Since I am not hauling anything and I just want better overall acceleration, I should get the 3.73 (available are 3.31, 3.55, and 3.73) right?

I also chose the Brembo Brake package because it seems like a good deal.

I also have a question about the headlights. I LOVE the way those white lights look on those high-end Mercedes and stuff and I was wondering if I could get some of those put on the car? They are called Hyper Whites.

The stock exhaust does not impress me and I was thinking about getting Flowmasters or Bassani. What is good for an exhaust that has an overall aggressive and low rumble sound?

Good choice. 3.73's all the way. Good idea with the Brembo brakes. the hyper whites wont be a factory option, but you can add your own later. The flowmasters should get you the rumble you want, in fact any chambered muffler will.

Look around for exhaust. I know this kid who has some Flowmaster Super 44's on his '05 Mustang, sounds like rice shit.

I had LT headers, BBK ORH pipe and Flowmaster 40's and it sounded great, very nasty. Also, keep in mind that the 05 is a 3V 4.6L motor and the 2011 is a 5.0L 4V, completely different sound.

I'm jealous. There should be a headlight option for HID's for the Mustang.

*Looks like you need to go with the premium version for the HID option. I'm sure the dealer could get them for you though.

That is true. I'm just saying, it sounded like shit.

I admit, I did not even check out the premium option, because I was looking at whichever model of the Mustang GT had the cheapest base price.

However, the premium actually has most of the options I put on the custom Mustang GT build and is around the same price.

Yep, 3.73's for sure.

Even I kinda want a new 5.0. I absolutely hate how heavy this body style is, but the 2011's look so goddamn good, and have such a kick ass engine.

I have to agree. It being a porker doesn't seem to matter too much.

It's a porker, but less so than the current Camaro. Coming from a die-hard GM fan, the Mustang is the better car. That new 5.0 is a nasty motor, and Ford did a better job of putting it's 400hp V8 in a non-2-ton car. Oh and the headlights you're looking for are HID projectors. If there's not an OEM option for it, there will be an aftermarket one sooner or later, because it's a goddamn Mustang and more people than just you will want HID projectors. However if you're feeling adventurous you could do your own retrofit. If you want to begin to consider that, check out www.theretrofitsource.com. I did my own TSX projector retrofit in my '97 Regal.

Actually, the Camaro SS and Mustang GT weigh within 100lbs on average, but the SS gets an independent rear suspension.

Don't know anything about it's chassis stiffness tho. The Mustang is fairly tight in that arena.

And the GT does have an HID option.

Consumer guide lists the 2011 GT at 3453lbs and the SS at 3780lbs.

Wow, I had not even seen the 11 mustang. I hadn't even thought about it, as I expected it to be just more of the same. Your thread prompted me to google image it since everyone said it looked so good... It doesn't look anything like a mustang... which means it looks awesome! Has almost an Aston Martin vibe to it. Good job, Ford.

I see 3600+lbs as the curb weight of most GTs in articles.

The new Mustangs only look good with the right options. Went to Orlando last weekend to visit some friends, they rented a '10 Mustang, convertible. Wheels were hideous, paint job and striping were ugly, the interior felt lacking. That's not to say a 2011 GT would be ugly. This vvvv looks sexy

My friends '09 has a Borla exhaust on it & it sounds sweet, kind of pricey IMO, but worth it if you want "the right sound".
