I love Thinkgeek. I've had some problems with them from time to time, but overall, they are quite good about customer service and have some of the most interesting and off-beat products.

Two product lines that they specialize in are bacon and caffeine related items. My favorite bacon product, just based on the concept, is tactical bacon - fully cooked bacon in a can with a 10+ year shelf life.

http://www.thinkgeek.com/images/products/frontsquare/c399_tactical_canned_bacon.jpg

Here is what you get when you search the site for bacon. (http://www.thinkgeek.com/images/products/frontsquare/c399_tactical_canned_bacon.jpg)

Here is the caffeine list. (http://www.thinkgeek.com/brain/whereisit.cgi?t=caffeine&sortby=score&sortorder=desc&sorthow=num&dispstart=1&dispnum=all)

Caffeine currently beats out bacon with 95 vs. 29 products, but we'll see how long that lasts.

While you're there, also do a search on zombies. There is a surprisingly full collection of zombie literature.

I didn't know the Beatles came from Switzerland ;)
Eh, I guess we have Toblerone... I may suggest them to make a tactical Toblerone bar tho.

Well, you have real swiss cheese - right?

It's very difficult to find good swiss cheese here. The best you can get at most supermarkets is Finlandia. I think that for the other brands they use regular cheese and just drill some holes.

We do. That is probably why I've never heard of Finlandia lol. All I eat is Emmentaler, Greyerzer and Tilsiter. Oh and Gerber Fondue, BOOYA!

However, I see in movies or TV shows everybody's eatin Beef Jerky, Cheesy Puffs etc etc, and we don't have that sorta stuff here. It took TEN YEARS just to get Froot Loops back into the stores. With massive pressure from customers.

Now I'm wondering if the French toast in France tastes better than the French toast in America.

No. Concerning food, France sucks big time. Even snails are tastier in Denmark than in France.

So, what exactly is the issue or issues? Is it a nanny-state thing where the govt tells you what is good for you? It sounds like the demand is there.

I'm ignorant of EU/Eurozone law but if there is free trade across borders, what to stop people from order stuff from the UK, Spain, Canary Islands, whatever?

I'm quite perplexed.

The big mall players say whats on their shelves, and mostly, its their own brand. And people don't seem to bother, or they just go along with it, I dunno. However, in the really big malls, where the cheese counter is as large as a mall in a village, you'll find pretty much everything. Thus I can understand your perplexation, since I don't quite get it either.

Also, whats holding back from ordering abroad is simple. Customs and shipping costs. ESPECIALLY customs. And with food; you're only allowed to take a maximum nuber of items, or a maximum weight over the border.

And now I remember that I forgot to bring my peanut chips to work, goddamnit.

By the way those are politicans, in our Bundesrat. They rule our country... the first one, Micheline Calmy-Rey, is responsible for foreign politics. No wonder we have beef with Lybia.

Dunno. Company content filter. It exaggerates from time to time.
I once made a game out of finding flash game sites that aren't blocked. Turns out, the IT people themselves are playing that game, too lol. Even they don't know who programs the filter.

When you think about it, there isn't really any other good reason to be a sysadmin.

Pay?
Getting to spend other people's money on super-expensive high-end gear just so you can play with it (aka: perform critical upgrades to meet ever-increasing user demand)?
The ability to piss people off just by typing a URL into a filter list?

I still don't see why every employee needs 500gb of space on the servers... thats 500gb x 1500 employees. And thats just the space for personal things.
I have access to five Terabyte of space. Which is only a fracture of the total... I need to ask those guys how much space we really have. And how much of it is occupied by porn.

~750tb for personal storage . . . damn. A bunch of men in the military? Probably at least half of that storage is filled with porn lol
