View Full Version : UPS tracking says my package was delivered...
But it wasn't. I was here all day, nobody ever buzzed my intercom, nobody ever knocked on my door...
http://www.newegg.com/Info/TrackOrder.aspx?TrackingNumber=1ZX799470338624025
From the looks of it, someone delivered my package, left it at the "front door", either the door to my appartment or the front door to the apartment building (which would be outside). Either someone updated the tracking info wrong, or some asshole stole my package. There's no tags anywhere... not on the front door, not on my door, not on my mailbox... nothing.
What do I do?

call UPS
talk to newegg. VIA chat i did this when my PSU never showed. they sent me a new one.
make sure you put your APT number etc in your billing info BEFORE you talk to newegg and not just the address of your building.
If I look in order history, it has my full (correct) address listed for it.

I'd call UPS during business hours and let them know you never received the package and you want to know what the heck is going on.
They told me to call newegg, on the grounds that they would have more info about putting a trace on the package.
wat
How is newegg gonna have more info than me? I have the tracking number, what more is there? RFID chip stuffed in the cardboard or something?
UPS tracking says the delivery was made in Girard, but Newegg says Youngstown. wat

ohhh this aint good, it's irresponsible to drop a package at the front door of an apartment.
and being that newegg has got their own fancy boxes now (an annoyance to me) it's easy to spot and guess that it has something good in it.
this one is on ups not newegg, ask to speak with a supervisor.

Always contact the retailer (in this case, Newegg). The retailer deals with UPS (file insurance claim) and organizing righting the wrong (get another sent). Contacting UPS will get you no where unless you were the shipper.

UPS would be correct. I just checked, Newegg and UPS both say delievered in Youngstown.
Question: Did you ask the building supervisor if he/she saw the package? I would do that before contacting Newegg.

Completely agree. It screams, "I have valuable tech gadgets, steal me!!!"
I got a hold of Newegg, and apparantly in 7-10 days I'll be getting a refund. Guess that's the end of that.

What was in the package? 4.3 lbs ain't very heavy. I can't imagine the box would be very big.

A generic power supply for my server. It currently has one of those atrocious Antec Smartpower models, infamous for high-pitched squealing.

Hmm, they are pretty large. There's no cubby holes near the entrance that he could have stuffed it in, is there?

Hat UPS is on Trumbull Ave in Girard Off of 422....
They are sure the driver didn't bring it back there?....
That's pretty fucked up...
I had the same thing happen to me and UPS found my Package and redelivered it 2 days later..I think that's why it takes Newegg that amount of time to do a refund...just in case it's found

It wouldn't say "Delivered" if it ended back at the UPS facility.

I'm waiting on a package from Edmund Scientific and I checked the tracking this AM after reading the thread here and UPS says "Package missed at UPS Facility" lol. I bet. Probably crazy times at UPS right now.
Hope it gets delivered today but I know there is no way the UPS guy will make it up the mountain...the road is ice over snow. Hope they call so I can meet them at the road.

that all depends on where at the facility it ends up, the breakroom, the office, the delivery driver's personal car......
glad to see newegg is refunding still though I put this on poor delivery judgement.

you know - I doubt any of the line/shift managers at UPS botherd to question the driver what really happend to the parcel. and thats the problem when a courier service has a contract from one of the USA's biggest online names in tech-sales. Newegg need them and UPS can make shit dissapear at the expense of newegg and at the frustration of the customer which the parcel was destined for.
Ive noticed on many occasions here in the UK when ive orderd something BIG like a PC case or Z5500 speakers that the box had been opened. the shit inside tamperd with then re-taped so badly you could open it up with almost no effort at all with your little finger.
luckily nothing inside was missing - i suspect someone at the depo just wanted to have a closer look at my gear before loading it on the van. but who ever did it needs to be sacked - other peoples posessions are none of their business, they are not paid to open it up and have a look at it, only to load the van and deliver the items.

I bet UPS managers do question everyone that handled the package. Everyone that steals a package is costing UPS money.
It is not at the expense of Newegg. UPS carries that cost if the package is insured and I'm sure all Newegg packages, except maybe "EggSaver," are insured.
Report the package was tampered with and they'll eventually find the guy/girl that did the tampering. It may have also been shipped that way from the shipper. Lots of irreputable companies will sell returned merchandise as "new." They put the parts back in the box, then tape it up, then sell it for retail. That practice is illegal. Newegg sells those items as "open box"--at least they are honest about it.
Hmm... I'm thinking of putting a fake package outside my door, and taping it up like it came from UPS. I'll stuff packing material in there, maybe some junk to give it some weight... and leave a piece of paper saying "FUCK YOU" on the top, in hopes the same dbag who took my power supply steals the fake package.

I had this happen once, with two different packages on the same day (both graphics cards from different places). I looked out my window and saw them by my neighbor's door, so I walked over and "stole" my mail back.
Yeah, my packages aren't certianly by anybody's door. Someone definately took it home with them.

Just saying...
Ive been making all but GFX purchases from Micro Center.....
It's really not that far it's only about a 45 minute drive if you got a car Hat...
Just take 80 west to 480 and merge onto 471 north get off at the US322 towards 91 and it's directly across the very first Intersection in the big ass plaza....
lolwut
There was a newegg box outside my door with my name on it. It's my power supply. I already got my refund for it...
...
wat do?
Just checked the tracking number, it's the same thing. The tracking info is not updated to reflect a re-delivery or anything... not at newegg or at UPS.

Was the package still factory sealed (ehm, no obvious signs of tampering)?
I would contact Newegg. I don't know what they'll say but I'm sure they have a policy for those situations.
Yeah, looked factory fresh.

Yup, let them know. My guess is they will pay for a UPS return shipping label or tell you to keep it but thank you for notifying them (depends on the value of the PSU).
I emailed them about it. I try to be honest, I really do...
The total cost was $30.98, including shipping. The power supply itself was only like $25. It sounds like they won't miss it too bad...

Yeah, 50/50 on them saying "keep it."
Emailed them, she gave me a 800 number to call and give them a credit card number and let them charge it. I wonder what happens if I don't? heh

LuLzzz.
Sorry meant my first post
Well shit... looks like they want me to pay for it. I didn't even get anything like "hey, thanks for being honest and sorting this out with us"... shit, I probably could have kept it and said nothing about it.

Then you'd be stealing. I'm surprised they didn't say not to worry about it. I definitely would have put up a fight over it saying they should bill UPS for it.
Yeah, I'm kind of ticked about it. I didn't have to say anything about it, I could have kept it and they would have been none the wiser... but I go out of my way to be honest about things and they just say that they want their money back. They didn't even say anything like "hey, thanks for being honest about it", or offer me some kind of compensation for my trouble, like a rebate code for free shipping on my next purchase or something... I mean really, it did take like 13 days longer than it should have to get here, and there was obviously a mix up somewhere cause the tracking info said delivered... and I went out of my way to be honest about it... going back in forth in emails over the course of a few days, spending time on hold on the phone...
I didn't have to contact customer service and tell them I got it (although it would be immoral). I didn't have to give back the refund. They didn't have to give me anything back for it, either. The way I see it, I went out of my way and they didn't... so that's why I'm a bit mad about it all. To give them credit, they were pretty good at handling it initially when I didn't get the package, but really... free shipping on my next purchase wouldn't have cost them much, but I would have been happy with the offer.

I'd be mad too. My guess is they don't handle shipping issues sorting themselves out very often so they don't have a policy to deal with the honest people that report it.
They sure are dragging their feet. They havn't taken the money yet, or emailed me back or called me yet. I got to the point where they told me to send an email with the last 4 digits of my credit card and let them charge the $30.98 back, and I did on Monday. I couldn't have typo'd on the email address, because I didn't get a mailer daemon error... and all the info in the email is correct. I wonder what's going on?
