13-year old girl sends 14,000 text messages in one month

A teenage girl racked up 14,528 text messages in one month – the equivalent of 484 a day or one for every two minutes she was awake.
Reina Hardesty, 13, told her parents 'I just like to talk' after they were astonished to receive a 440-page phone bill.
Her father Greg said that luckily she had been signed up to a contract allowing unlimited texting or her bill would have been £1,940.
He told her story in the Orange Country Register, the paper in California where he is a reporter. Reina admitted she has four close friends that she is constantly texting. 'I don't think there really is a point,' she added on her mother's Facebook page. 'It's just fun to talk.'

I used to send 6 grand a month in high school, because I was bored and other HS students were bored, and when you've got a phone under the desk it's easy to look busy reading.

Now I send maybe 2, but I keep in contact with a lot of old friends and many of those are IMs as well. My main phone usage now is tetris.

Her dad works at a paper in California, but says her bill would cost that many pounds (I'm pretty sure what that sign is), kind of confusing.

Crazy though, this a record? Thats the first thing I would be checking on.

Text messaging is the biggest waste of time ever. If I get a text message, I reply call me or get deleted from my phone. At least people are using them in school when they should be learning. We need more dumb asses in the world for sure. My kids won't have any kind of portable device until they can pay for them themselves.

I use texts to say "whats up", if I get back "nothing" then I head over to my friends house, sometimes it just isn't worth the call for an exchange of 3 words :p

They both bought themselves a Go Phone. Their minutes last 2 days tops after they get their allowance and buy a card. There's no way in hell they are going to get on my cell plan. lol.
