It's not really "new" by any means. It's a 1977 Lincoln Mark V. :D
I should have it a few weeks, and I'll get pics next time I check it out!
Needs some work but for the price I'm getting it for, it's worth every penny ($750)

OMG, the original pimpmobile. It's nice car - at least I always liked it - but the mileage on that has got to be pretty bad.

Enjoy the 8MPG. That 460 is unforgiving. I had a 78 Eldorado once, great car, but dogshit for mileage.

Sometimes you have to say. I just want a Big American car that gets shitty gas mileage. Why they will ask, and you just have to say I want too roll in stile!
Congrats! I would love to own one myself!

Yeah, which is why that car is long gone. Can't say my F150 is too much better though.

Gas is $3.19 a gallon here. I remember when I was getting pissed when it was $2.49....

Well it's a little better on mileage, but also a much more useful vehicle.

Oh it's a lot better. 18MPG and it's not running right. I bet I can squeak out 20ish MPG when I finally get it smoothed out. Also fixing to change the motor in a Saturn, so thats a gas saver and I have a 2.2L S10 at my disposal, so I am not hurting in the MPG department.

Curb feelers are more suited to the 50's cars. Here was a 51 Cadillac Fleetwood that me and my dad were restoring. It still had it's original curb feelers.

People who don't see what's going on in the rest of the world don't understand that. People thought it was going to be like back in the 70's. Everybody gets worried that we won't have enough oil and start looking at solar and wind, etc. only to have the price go up and have the oil crisis disappear into the mists of time. It ain't gonna be like that this time.

I'm just not happy about increase in price of fuel as a consumer, but i do see the bigger picture as i do check whats going on in the world every now and then and renewable energy source is rubbish in England,at least for me anyways and we don't have many sunny days lol.

Well guys, I had to back out. Gas is going up again, and being a dog on gas, it would of definitely of been an un-wise decision to get it. :/
It would of been a cool car, for sure. i'll never forget the test drive I was able to get though!
I'll just look for something more practical, such as an AMC Jeep or a Foxbody.

Thanks. I have to get the title and get this bad boy registered! The best part is my insurance is only going to go up $34 a year, from the Taurus.
3$ per gallon, I'd kill for low gas prices like that.

Yeah, but how far is your job from your house? Me and my dad both work 55 miles one way from home. So that is 110 miles daily that we each drive. His truck gets 14MPG, mine gets 17MPG.

Now, about five miles. But I used to drive 80 miles per day. 21mpg.

At $3.29 for regular, I have to pay about $63 to fill it, which sucks because I'm a part time dishwasher. Good thing my job is 1.7 miles one way. lol.

£1.29 a litre here and I live next to the Ineos North Sea Oil refinery (nutkick)
I also do 1000 mile a week in a 48mpg car.
I think that works out at $8 US Gallon

Well guys. I have a few problems I need to fix:
- Rewire entire audio system. The PO had a total hackjob and I can't trace anything
- Fix highbeam switch on the floor
- Figure out how to open trunk (Key lock is busted, and the trunk release thing doesn't work)
- Get weather stripping on the driver's door
- Remove wheel spacers
- Get new battery
- Repair dash lights
- Add new gauges (Speedo, Clock, and Fuel) are the only instruments. I would like a temp gauge, oil pressure gauge, and a volt gauge
I think that's it. (For now)

for the trunk lock - just use a slide hammer like this with a screw on the end.
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x206/twilyth/jr-5al.jpg
The latch is probably corroded though so you might want to try your favorite rust dissolver on it.
That part about the high beam switch on the floor brings back some memories. You can only get away with that on an auto trans. though.

A 77 should also be equipped with a 460.

Easily fixed, just throw any pre 72 heads on it or heads from the later Ford trucks when they closed the combustion chambers again, 4bbl intake/carb combo and a cam.

It has a 460, C6, and a 9" rear end.
I might also be able to get some '71 heads off a 429, and a Edelbrock 4bbl carb for cheap.
