I saw the first one but missed the second one. I guess I'll get the 608 - that's one of amps you have right? It's a much better deal but I'm always nervous about open box stuff. I'll have to make sure I check it out as soon as I get it in case the last guy fucked with it.
Thanks.

No. I can't do it. I forgot what their policy was and how I'd gotten burned a couple times. The 608 is the better choice but I can't do it.
Yes, I AM a pussy.

I have the HT-RC270. It's basically a hybrid of the 608 and 708. 608 amp with most of the 708 inputs and features.
And the only accessories it comes with are the manuals, an AM antenna, FM antenna and a remote. Worse comes to worst, you have to buy a remote. The remote is $22.36 direct from Onkyo.

The thing is that they don't test shit on open box returns. I got a m/b once that had pins bend so far I had to dig them out of the tracings almost. I just don't trust them and I don't have the energy to deal with any screw ups. I can't explain it in a way that would make any sense except maybe to say my situation is like having the flu all of the time - every day, day in and day out. I'm not sore or in pain but doing even simple things can be a huge effort.
I've been doing a lot better lately but but for months over the winter I was a basket case. Trolling forums was about all I was capable of and I even sucked at that sometimes. And even now that I have some energy, I know I could wake up tomorrow, it could be gone and it would be another 3 or 4 months before I could get my shit together again. In other words, I can't even plan 1 day in advance.
Sorry for the long explanation but I don't think I've ever really gone into why i'm such a slug at times and therefore have to consider that in making plans and decisions.

No, that makes perfect sense. I've more or less been in the same funk. I missed getting my SR606 serviced by a few weeks, due to a total lack of motivation. In case you have missed it, I haven't even really been trolling I've been doing so shitty.
I was just trying to get your spirits up to give it a shot.

Thanks W. It does have nice specs - or at least I think so based on the 30% or so that actually made sense to me. One stood out - freq response of 5hz-100khz. Fuck me. It must have a certification from the American kennel club for the high end.
My main concern was getting something I could grow into. Plus, there's just no way I could do 7.2 with my arrangement. The sofa runs along one wall, curves around and then runs the entire length of the other wall. So I can work with fronts, sides and center, but backs are a bitch since the only place I can put them is near the curve and even then I would have to hang them from the ceiling. I'm going to start out putting the RM8's in the back position about 3 ft apart on some shelves behind the curve. The Monitor 40's and center will go on the AV rack.
Shit. Forgot to order more speaker cable damn it.
Thanks again.

You don't have to use all 7 channels. I don't. It just makes the 5 you do use put out more power, and more cleanly at full load.
