Just wonderin' because i can't post with a bunch of kids :/

I mean if kids are here, great. But I come from a board run by kids and idiots with a very conservative Admin. I mean i don't mind so much but hey....its too uptight

So, your age, plz. So i know i'm free to say as i please around here without being flamed, trolled, admonished, etc

i am 28

I am making the poll to reflect minimum forum age requirements

i mean i can't post with a bunch of kids where i usually post. i have come to be seen as "inappropriate" and "immature" just for commenting on things like i see posted here. its stupid. especially when its not just kids there. i am just unfortunate enough to be...um...a grown up on a message board, i guess

now who is being discriminated against?

besides its not like i'm hiring and firing people. i'm just sayin' it as a matter of fact at my other board :/

You are trying to link age with level of maturity, and are counting the two directly proportional, which they're not. Stereotyping everyone with low age (lowest option in your poll is 13~20) as "kids" (your word), is discriminatory. You can have a 18 year old sane matured individual, and you can also have a 30 year old twat, or a 40 year old virgin. Can't use age to determine that.

you're being a little too serious for me its 3:20am and i'm not talking about life, just the tone of a message board where i have posted for several years. thats all

its a simple question i ask. that way if a user or mod here ever wants to admonish me about my posting i can just say 'listen stfu we're adults here. i think we can handle it' :/

There is no age based divide, and none to worry about. Also, the guidelines apply equally to all users irrespective of age.

The bottomline is you needn't worry about users' age. Judge them by their levels of maturity. For the same reason, I will protect the usernames of those voting in the poll, so those falling in the 13~20 don't fall prey to "adults" calling them kids looking merely at their age in this poll. Tomorrow I don't want bickering in threads where someone calls another a kid merely because his age is lower, and he happens to disagree on topics.

now you see....thats the thing. i would NEVER call the "kids" at my other board that way. in fact i never have. i think its disrespectful and i mingle well with everyone

for the most part the members are great. its the Admin and mods who separate themselves, belittle users, and get on my back for treating everyone the same, regardless of age. i am one of the more respectful and considerate members and posters on site. to everyone

honestly the board is just poorly run. this one has lots of potential. i hope to post here 'til i'm 34, too :p

EDIT: also i'm pretty plain spoken and casual about internet posting. irreverent, even. so take me with a grain of salt....as when i said "kids"

Heh. I think I've only ever been really depressed once. Close friend deaths will do that to ya tho. Just gotta keep moving on, enjoy life. You only get one chance to live, don't blow it being sad over stupid shit :)

I've been a regular member of a certain forum since 2005...

My first week there, I received a mod warning because I posted "$#*&^@"

Yeah I really did say that, it wasn't censored. I shiver when I think what might have happened had I posted 'shit' or 'crap'.
Thing was that since there were minors on the forum, me saying "$*(&#$%" gave them a clear message that I was using swear words....

Never knew myself that minors were so intuitive as to be able to decipher a swear word out of the above jargon...

So now I'm a tad scared to post on forums frequented by a lot of teens or pre-teens...
I'm scared they might get into my old soul.......

Lol, which reminds me of a SECOND incident with the mods on that same forum:

Now my English is satisfactory, but it's not my native language and heck at school they didn't teach us the 'bad' words...

So I made a post on that forum, speaking about The Sims 2 game - it was about some problem I got when my sims graduated "summa cum laude".
My post mentioned those 3 latin words a lot... appearing as "summa *** laude"

Being a n00b then, and still not over the mod beating I got by saying "#*$&#%", I demanded an explanation why I was being censored even while posting something which the game itself rated age 12 writes onscreen during gameplay!

Here's the answer I got (I never deleted that pm because I split my sides laughing every time I read it! :D)

c u m - is slang/colloquial term for not only the act of climaxing but also the white stuff that is produced.

And i totally agree with the original poster. Granted, you can't really equal age with how mature they are, but i still get a bit annoyed when 13 year olds talk about the hardships of life, love and the history of computing like they were demented 80 year olds.

If they can talk about "world history" (which is a couple of thousand years old, and taught to them), they are perfectly qualified to talk about "history of computing" (which is under 100 years old).
