Quite a few people say that she should have been handled differently. Of course once tasers are involved things start getting out of hand and hyperboles are slung left and right. Some of the sarcastic remarks include:
"... why not just shoot her instead?"
"Police Baton or Taser. Yes I see now he had no other choice."
"... why didn't he just throw her into traffic while at it?"
"... because obviously wrestling her to the ground would break all of her bones."
The only thing I have to say on the alternate options is that most every one of them would have made a funnier video.

72 year old women are not above the law, the officer did what he was supposed to do. I would have tasered her as well.

I would of done the same thing. If I were a police officer, I would treat EVERYONE the same, whether they were 20 years old or 70 years old.
Just because she gets discounts on Senior Citizen Day, doesn't mean she can get away with breaking the law.
She deserved the taser.

Being tased is always earned. No surprise that she earned it.
She should have just signed it. She's got a lot more to worry about now than just a speeding ticket.

You do realize the majority of cops act above the law. For example the number of assaults on people who record police activity on video is huge. A police officer is not there to determine your guilt, but only to issue a citation that you may have broken a law, it is then up to the judge or jury to determine guilt. They are obligated to prove to you your act, and cannot remove you from your vehicle unless they have a good reason, and just because is not a good reason.
My wife got pulled over for supposedly speeding and when the cop saw I had the video camera on he totally changed his attitude, and didn't even give her a warning. I have been lied to by more cops than not, and been harassed by many. If you know your rights and are assertive of them while being respectful they will almost always let you go, and if not just pay the damn ticket.

Officers usually don't ask them to get out of the car unless a) the car is a hazard, b) you're under the influence, or c) you get to ride in the backseat of a squad car.
In this case, it was "c." She was not cooperating so he was preparing to take her in to custody.

i think the officer was within procedure. that said i think it was an inappropriate action on his part, personally. i can only say what i think i would have done based on other incidents i have seen
he is a trained officer. grab a wrist, give it a little twist, turn her and cuff her. she is elderly and that counts for something for me. who knows, the taser shot may have been deadly to HER. and it certainly wasn't a life and death situation for the officer. by tasing her he could have made it one for her

lol see before tasers it was either a tussel or a shooting. I think tasers are the wya to go. especially when they are resisting arrest trying to assault an officer etc. they may hurt for abit but it's much better than one of them being ina bodybag.

She was refusing to co-operate with the officer
She was refusing to sign the speeding ticket
She would not Step back away from the officer, being repeated countless times
She insisted that she will get back in her truck and drive away
He warned he 5 times that if she would not stop back he would have to use force(I.E. Taser)
I Mean wtf is she out of her damn mind, going against a police officer like that? Just sign the damn ticket and go home, fight it in court if she thinks she wasn't speeding. Now she going to get an attorney and all this endless BS about "hurting an old women"
If it was some Teenager OR even better some black guy, They would just say typical but o' just because it's a "72 yr old women" Its wrong?
She will lose regardless.

If he tased mine, I would demand that he get promoted lol.
I can see both sides here. On one hand, he did warn her many many times and she failed to comply. On the other, he is twice her size and could have easily taken her into custody without using the taser.
