this may take some convincing but i think its a good idea.

let me explain why...

TPU.com is about what? computers... hardware, software, troubleshooting and building them.

the topic of WCG and F@H really doesnt have a whole lot to do with TPU.com at all other than its ran on computers and it uses software to utilize hardware to help a cause.

VERY few of the posts in F@H and WCG subforums is helpful in any way as far as the general scope of tpu.com is concerned.

there is also a good deal of general off topic talk that goes with both WCG and F@H which is more slated for GNF.net. ppl could be off topic and say whatever if they where moved here.

how many posts in our tpu post counts are racked up in the WCG and F@H forums? A LOT.

dont take me wrong here.... both WCG and F@H are great causes but i think they would be better off here on GNF.net.

I feel that it would be nice to have it here I wouldn't mind. I think the game subforum should be added here as well, games have to do with computers but we could add PS3/Xbox/Pc subforums PSP/DS and All retro systems SNES, Gensis etc..and a old retro game log too.

I think they are fine where they are. Both apps are software that relies on good hardware. Both hardware and software aspects need a lot of debugging (especially on overclocked systems which TPU is full of). There's little to gain by moving it here; moreover, I doubt you can rename the team so a TPU thread on GN is counter-intuitive.


Most of the posts that are useful in TPU/WCG end up in other threads (mostly the generic TPU/WCG threads). For some reason (I am guilty of this too) people just tend not to make new threads for every single issue they encounter on those subjects.

There is a much wider user base at Techpowerup and I feel it would hurt the teams for a nominal boost to the forums here. Also, I agree with the statement that it doesn't really fit in the 'General Nonsense / Off Topic' kind of category. If absolutely required I'd say post links from here to there.

I just saw this and was more than a little surprised. Honestly, even considering this is a bit disturbing to me. The WCG and F@H teams ARE TPU's teams. The GNF was set up as an extension to funnel the non tech related crap out of TPU, and I'd guess only 20-30% of team members actually visit this forum. So, I give a resounding NO to this idea, and I'm guessing Buck Nasty will feel the same way. This is something that SHOULD have been discussed with WCG/Folding team members at TPU way before bringing it here.

Fits, you aren't quite as innocent as you would have everyone believe. It's no secret that you were a little more than upset when PaulieG was made the moderator of the WCG section. You even stated so yourself, on several occasions. Hell, I've seen first hand what happens when you don't get your way, remember the FS/FT forum at RRTech you wanted to be mod of? Remember the little tirade you threw when that position was shot down? Remember you threatening to track down a member of the forum, and "beat him with a bat"? Any of that sound familiar? How about when you tried to hack a certain forum owner's email? Don't deny it, there are screenshots from the mail host that show your IP.

This is just another one of your sneaky little scams. You want the WCG section moved here for the sole purpose of it to be striped from Paulie. You contribute nothing to the team. I've seen several occasions where you use your "captain" status to push your shady goods. Hell, the only reason you "started" the WCG team was to "kick" another team's ass. You have no real interest in the team itself, all you care about is gaining more "status".

I have no problems with TPU. No one from RRTech has ever had a problem with TPU. The problem occurred when TPU was "harboring refugees". Some people didn't have a place to hide and the situation was taken advantage of. No ill will was ever meant for TPU, it just happened to be the place where the shoot-out occurred.

I still read TPU alot and like the forum.
