View Full Version : scroll wheel on mp3 player isn't working anymore

I have a Sandisk sansa e280 (first generation), and the scroll wheel doesn't seem to work anymore.
No matter what direction I spin it in, it just goes backwards. For example, I try to raise the volume (spin clockwise), and the volume goes down (as if I was spinning it counter-clockwise)
I tried cleaning the base of the scroll wheel, but that didn't seem to work.
Any suggestions? I really don't want to buy a new one, since I'm broke

RMA it? or try reinstalling the firmware - might be a software issue

well that sucks. should have visited the anytthingbutipod Sansa forums, first. or even the forums at Sandisk. they may have been able to help. even if the prob was mechanical you may have been able to pry it open and fix it
i love the newer Sansa players. don't know about those older ones. almost bought a refurb recently
edit: o wait nvm

the sandisk mp3 player sucks. a friend brought one and it got broken in less than a week. I even prefer a generic mp3 player over that.

depends what model you get. the Fuze and Clip are both great. better then their ipod counterparts in the same market segment. i can't say about older ones. the e-series seemed popular. the Sansa View isn't so great, however
i have a Fuze and a Clip. they're great players

wrong they're great. i think the only reason mine crapped out is because it's always being handled roughly.
