Anyone here watch this series? It's pretty much more than anything you've ever seen. You'll have to watch it to figure that out......

I tried to watch the first episode a couple of years ago when it was really getting a reputation for being all kinds of amazing. I couldn't do it. Not sure why at this point, but one of only a handful of tv series that I really want to watch.
Madmen is another. I got a couple of seasons into that last summer.
Dexter I'm watching because I have to. It's just one of those shows where either you watch or you turn in your man card. Look, I don't make the rules.
Not sure if Walking Dead are on the short list or not. It might be another 'Dexter.'
edit: OT, but what about Rubicon? I thought that show was . . . I don't even know what to say. And they cancelled it. It was too slow? Yeah. I guess. But it wasn't like it mattered. It was perfect. The lighting was always just a little off. Enough to make you vaguely uncomfortable. Not every scene, but in a lot of scenes, every line of dialog could have so many implications. I'd almost be willing to say it could move too fast, except the timing always seemed perfect.
Sigh. I guess there's really no point in a rant, especially when so much of it is so subjective.

NEW YORK (AP) — The AMC network and producers of its popular "Breaking Bad" series about a chemistry teacher gone bad have agreed on making a fifth and final season of the show.
Production on the final, 16-episode run will begin early next year and hasn't been scheduled for air.
Negotiations with series maker Sony Television had reportedly been tense, with Sony even contacting other networks to see if they'd be interested in picking up the show if AMC bowed out. The cable network, with another costly and popular series in "Mad Men," was looking to keep expenses down and had been seeking a shorter run of episodes.
Producers may have gained leverage with the strong performance of the series in its fourth season this summer. The season debut on July 18 had the series' highest ratings ever, and overall "Breaking Bad" has 28 percent more viewers this season than it had the last, the Nielsen Co. said.
Actor Bryan Cranston has won three Emmy Awards for his portrayal of lead character Walter White, who uses his chemistry knowledge to become a drug kingpin after receiving a cancer diagnosis.
"This is a great gift to me and my wonderful writers," said Vince Gilligan, series creator. "It's knowledge which will allow us to build our story to a satisfying conclusion. Now, if we don't manage to pull that off, we've got no one to blame but ourselves."

The series premiered in January 2008.

When it finishes up I'll get the whole series and watch it. A few years back I watched the first 5 episodes or so as they came on and they were good, but I couldn't keep up with the airing schedule.

This season is even more trippy I think. Incredibly well done series all in all. Not often I think much of an american tv show!

Soylent, ever heard of torrent? You can get all first 3 seasons in one shot. And you really need to watch the series in order to understand what's going on. It really is worth the effort!

the whole series could end right here and I'd be okay with it. What could possibly happen next season to top this?

This.
There's stuff that could happen, but yes I think they could have ended it here. It's almost as if they had written it for four seasons, but then got renewed for a fifth. I sure hope it doesn't feel like they're dragging it on next season. There are a few unanswered questions like what is the DEA going to do from here on out and what happened to Mike and does he have anything worth fighting for. The only "cliffhanger" they left was the plant in Walt's back yard.

in the previous episode (4x12) Walter is sitting by the pool in a lawn chair spinning the barrel of a revolver. on the last spin the revolver is pointing at the plant and he has an epiphany.
I think the last scene in the season finale was trying to show you how far he will go.

Exactly. Which is why, in the end.. Jessie will kill Walter.
I'm still wondering what is going on with Mike.

the character arc of Walter White started with cancer so it's possible it will end with it.
I can't imagine them topping the Gustavo story arc with another Kingpin. erocker is probably right, it will be between Jesse and Walter.
