Got a maintence problem.
Swapped all my plug's and wire's on my '03 Dakota..figured it would fix this annoying TICK i have been having with acceleration.
Well all swapped out, good to go, and I still have the damn tick...and I have a metal rubbing sound also during acceleration..sound's a lot like a knife going over wetstone.
I've read a couple thing's online, and still to no avail can I find any info on this.
Also one of the plug's (no idea which #) had an excessive amount of oil on it, all other plug's were clean.
Anyone have any experience with something like this?

Hmm, if the plug had oil on it, then oil is getting into the cylinders. If that's the case, then you have a valve that's letting it in. It could explain the ticking too. There are loads of ticks though, I would need to hear it in order to make a diagnoses.

I've heard lifter, bad valve, also heard it could be the manifold gasket causing a leak in pressure.
Wish i could record the sound, but it wouldn't be loud enough. Take a normal spark plug tick, and combine that with when you press down on the gas, faster the car goes' faster the tick. Anything under 45MPH and it isn't really noticeable.
And it doesn't do it while idle..just while driving.

Lifter would knock at idle, same with a bad valve. Sounds like you are getting spark knock if it's happening under load. That or you have a spark plug wire grounding out somewhere.
Here is the sound of spark knock. This is a tad dramatic, it can be alot quieter than this, and sound like a tiny knock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiBzxxvy3FQ&feature=related

If it's that lifter, how the hell do i replace it? Do i have to tear everything down?

pop the valve covers, potentially take the cams out. It's a moderate job.

The head should be rebuilt.

Maybe a rod bearing is on the way out, would be bad news though.

Found it. Left exhaust manifold bolt's broke off causing an exhaust leak...gonna be fun drilling them out and replacing them.

A lifter tick can be remedied by swapping out a quart of oil for a quart of Rislone in your next oil change if it's not serious. It's worked in two of my vehicles; takes about 100 miles to wash the tick out.
