I'm not getting paid by them in any way. I saw this app, and thought "hey, this aughta be cool..."

It lets you control just about everything via iPhone. The new SLR's that support an LCD viewfinder will also give you a live feed.

It works this way:

Camera-> USB or Wifi->Computer running the server software.->Wifi->iPhone->DSLRemote.

Its painless to set up, and really really cool! (I'm too cheap to buy an actual RF remote for my Rebel :p )

Zomg!!! This is freaking awesome. Buying this for my lappy.

Only downside is that our XTi's don't seem to support live view. Bummer.

Thats a DSLR limitation. :(

Canon has I think made an LCD view for the XSi, but I'm not sure. I know atleast one of the new DSLR's has it.

The really nice part is that it does it via Bonjour, which makes things extremely seamless.

On the topic of remote controls, check out Air Mouse. it's just as awesome, if not better.

Is that the one that uses the accelerometers to control the cursor?

Yes, thats how they originally designed it(And still does it, it's pretty cool), but now you just can hit a button (and by default..) its just a giant track pad on the iPhone screen. Shake it and a keyboard pops out, and it has browser back/fwd/home hotkeys, and even media player (itunes!) hotkeys.

Its a pretty slick app. It'll be very handy for PPT in the future :)
