Woman lives with bullet in face for 12 years

Tirana (Albania): An Albanian woman lived 12 years with a bullet lodged below her cheekbone without noticing it, a media report said.

Mrike Rrucaj was hit by a bullet when she was sleeping in her home in the western Balkan state.

"I was covered in blood. The doctor at the hospital said the bullet had come out, and he just cleaned the wound," the 40-year-old Rrucaj said of the incident in 1997.

However, only recently she has been experiencing headache, which prompted her to see a doctor. An X-ray revealed a 2.8-cm-long bullet lodged below her cheekbone.

Is that the pic of the part that was inside her cheekbone? If so I seriously wonder how the hell that got in there since that bit's definitely not meant to come out the barrel.

Exactly, I'm sure empty casings are meant to come out the ejection port so unless they took a hammer and smacked it into her face like that I can't see how it got it.

Even if she did have them, her body would have gotten used to it over a period of time. Nerves tend to "make do" with stimulus that persists over a long period of time.

thats the shell casing, not the projectile.. the case lookes like a .223 (5.56mm) or a .222 to be shot in the face ans survie thats dam lucky... a .223 would have had to have been shot from a loooooooong way awayz to do that minimal dammage.... or at least bounced off a few things first
