Car Phone Charger - buy original or not?

I need a cig-lighter car phone charger for my LG Arena KM900.

Apart from the original being 5x the price of the other?

Can a cheap charger damage the phone?

I'd buy the no-name. I've always bought no-name car chargers for my phones, and have never had a problem.
