Brock Lesnar retired from mixed martial arts after Alistair Overeem stopped him with one vicious kick to the body at 2:26 of the first round in their heavyweight bout at UFC 141 on Friday night.Lesnar is the UFC’s biggest pay-per-view star and the former heavyweight champion, but his return from a 14-month injury absence ended with Lesnar staggering and crumpling against the cage. He couldn’t recover from a kick from Overeem (36-11), the 6-foot-5 Dutch kickboxing star making his UFC debut.

football is bad but this shit is much worse. Do you have any idea the kinds of brain damage repeated blows to the head does? At least with football they make every effort to protect the players. It's still brutal though and if you follow the news at all you'll know that the players currently have some sort of law suit going on over just this type of injury - if it hasn't been settled already. The UFC shit should either be outlawed or more protective equipment should be required. Just because people are stupid enough to ignore the unavoidable risks doesn't necessarily mean they should be permitted to take them.

You should quit bitching about everything. Does people in the UFC fighting effect your life in any way? No. They know the risks and they accept them.

Lesnar took a couple of solid blows to the gut in rapid succession last night, he basically has to retire as he had a large portion of his intestine removed because of Chrone's Disease.

Not really. :)

Chill dude, I didn't quite mean it like that, but it seems like you want everything regulated to retardation.

Intestine Removed from Chrones Disease you say?
God damn, guy shouldn't be doing anything like that. I respect for making his body look like a brick shit house, but damn... after that heavy duty surgery, no way.

Yeah, that was what did him in for that fight. A knee and then a hard shin to the gut. Dude's a badass, but he can't fight anymore.

It's actually a lot safer than boxing is when you're looking at the brain damage standpoint of it.

If you take a blow to the head in the ufc you have usually lost and the fight is over. With boxing you have 10 seconds to regain your composure and take another few punches in the head.

There are multiple ways to win a fight, be it points, submissions, etc etc

You had it right when you said repeated blows to the head cause brain damage, but in the ufc it is rare that a fighter takes repeated blows and isn't out of the fight shortly after. I guess Lesnar would be case in point as he lost due to a knee to the body.

UFC is truest when it comes to fighting, and boxing gloves actually make punches to the head even worse than without gloves since more surface hits you, and you can hit more heads since your precious hand is protected.

As for Lesnar, retiring is probably a good idea. You need to be 100% fit to compete in UFC.
