My friend has one and wants to turn it into a poon-grabber.
What can be done?
Yes. This is serious :P

Trade it in for a Mercedes Sedan (4 door still works, trust me) or if he wants it more sporty, then towards an SLK.
Honestly, station wagons aren't poon grabbers. Unless you drive it to a soccer game and start flirting with the moms. And even then, that's a long shot. Sedans however, attract the ladies like flies to anything a fly likes. They will make you look alot more affluent than any station wagon ever could even if its still a Merc station wagon.
SLK would get him the most attention most likely, but they are stupid expensive.

Condition? I think the best use of these cars is their natural look. The Mercedes is more of a classy look. At best I'd say restore it. If he wants to change the tires to more rim and flash, then that's reasonable. Kill him if he uses spinners. I don't think anything body kit wise needs to be done (good luck finding one anyways) but if anything a modest extension down just to help mask the undercarriage. In the picture posted above it looks pretty raw right under the door, though this could be a trick of the lighting / that particular car in the picture. Basing off how it looks in that picture though it looks like it could use some 'hiding'.
Other than that, the only other thing would be the grill.

If its anything like this one above, its too busy for my tastes. Something more like:

If at all possible. Mind you I've always been more of a fan of simplicity when it comes to cars, but I believe simplicity works better with these cars due to their refinement / perceived class.
He's got probably the best color on the old ones (though I am partial to the black ones I can't remember if black was a standard color back then). Some of the burgundies you see around are pretty horrible, so at least he's good there.
For the ass end of it I've always liked cars with a bit more 'finish' to them. I'm not much of a fan on how it slopes downwards towards the end. A spoiler would fix this however I'm unsure how anything of the like would work on a car like this. I'm not advocating the use of huge spoilers but something along the lines of:
http://www.cardata.com/spoilers/images/DAR_Spoilers/2007_Cadillac_CTS_rear_spoiler.jpg
might be acceptable. It all depends on his styling preferences and how it'd look. It's tough to visualize without the sucker right in front of you.
For headlights, I prefer the square ones of the one I posted a couple of posts up, not the rounded ones of the one at the top of this post, though there may not be too much he can do about that.
Does it have the roof racks visible in the above silvery picture? Or is it more plain like the brown one in this post? What about sun roof?

If I had that car I would paint it black, 17 or 18" five spoke rims and lower it about an inch. I think that's all it would need.

Tho not necessarily black, but a dark color. And wheels need to have a dish/lip too. Wouldn't look quite right with a flush design.

I would go with a real deep metallic green, Mercedes always seem to be off black type color, though some do look good in black, I think they just look a bit better in other dark metallic colors.
Also is he just going for look or speed also?
